A cheap decent machine for the sole use for Photoshop (CS3) and Quark 7.

Was wanting to build it on a budget, but what im really hoping is that the new Intels would be able to make up PDF's in record times.

I have built plenty of machines before but would like some input, ive always built to my own budget, but I was hoping to get sommin together pretty cheap.

So if somone could spec me would be greatly appreciated.

Also, would a gameing mouse bea good idea to get the accuracy for photoediting in PS?

I work as a graphic designer and if good enough can ptich this to the boss as a time saving investment.

(As some may know PDF'ing a magazine from Quark can take up a lot of time)

Thanks for the list Masslac (though I may need to get 2x of those HD's one to act as a backup)

Cant touch the onitors, we currently have CRT but for colour and printing they are still the best for us. I cry as I would LOVE a Widscreen for obvious reasons.

And I cant believe the price of the Geil, I bought the kit jsut before Chrimbo

Does the case come with fans, may overclock the 6600 as the are easy to push, though probobly means I need a better HSF?

The case has a 120mm rear fan, but I'm not sure about the side. TBH it'll be fine as it is, though, unless you really push the machine.

As for a HSF, http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-017-AR will do the job very nicely.

Strangely I told a friend I work with to get one of these if he was overclocking, but I wouldnt be pushing it THAT much, just wanna get my money's worth from the Ram and the 6600.

What you think about Vista, its no big deal but would it run ok? dont want the fancy effects (which I admit are nice), more about the stability etc. Or should I just stick with a OEM XP Pro.

Isnt that memory supposed to have compatibility issues with newer Asus boards? I would read up on this in the memory section first and foremost before ordering this combination.

Really? noooooo I cant have trouble with this, or at least as little as possible.

Was looking at the Abit, but would that be alittle OTT?

I have the Giga DS4, but im not happy with it persoanlly, bad layout and serious problems mouth the Ninga HS which lead to be making some alterations with a dremmel I could have done without
