Would you buy a TV now

I have been after the B6 OLED for few months now but now that the prices have dropped I don't think we will see it cheaper.

However, I am just unsure as CES is just around the corner. I mean would that likely to affect the prices or more likely when the 17 models hit the market which won't be until Q2/Q3?

Another thing, do we actually know anything about the 17 models, are there any new tech that likely to be included in these models and not in the B6/16 models.

Thanks,

As above this is not a bad time to buy, you are just before the new ones, so the old ones are being discounted, the new ones will be more costly until this time next year when they get cheaper again.

So the question really becomes pay the price they are at now, or be prepared to pay 2-3x as much for the new ones when they release, or wait another year and get the new ones at discount prices (but have the same dilemma for the next years tv's!).

A couple of years ago I was expecting to be going 4K about now but there just isn't the content available, and my Panasonic VT plasma is still better than even OLED displays. So I'm happy to leave it for now.

I have got a nice 4K LED. Will not be buying any more LED TV's. Will wait and pounce once OLED's come down to around £1000. It won't be that long. Couple of years maybe.

I'm in a similar boat and, unless there's a crazy price drop, am going to wait and see what CES brings. When the new models are announced prices will drop further, no doubt, but so will stock - so if you're dead set on a B6, maybe picking one up now is a good idea. Otherwise hang on and what LG are going to improve. Better HDR would be nice and lower input lag too. The current sets aren't perfect btw. Go to the av forum and you'll see various people with motion and banding issues. If LG make a noticeable a change/fix to any of these issues, or improve on the things mentioned above in a significant way, i'm going to wait. If not, i'm going to hope there's still some current gen still available and take the plunge :)

very happy with my 55" 4k led. The 40" sony i had before that was about 8 years old! I'd probably only buy a new TV once i can get a 60" oled which is good for gaming for under a grand. But i'm prepared to wait at least another 5 years for that :)

Well that's just a load of tosh isn't it? :)

If you need a new TV, buy one.

If you can wait, wait.

But don't buy it because it's the cheapest you've ever seen it and you "don't think you'll see it cheaper" - because I'll quite happily bet it will be cheaper next year.

Wait for CES to see what's coming. New models will arrive in May/June, so old models will be cleared from stock around April/May. Then you can decide to either get something new and shiny, or take advantage of big price cuts on this year's models before they are end-of-lifed.

Yeah that's why I plan to get a KS7000 next year and not now, as I know it'll be even cheaper than current £850.

Also hopefully buy a ps4 pro at the same time ;)

There appear to be some decent prices out there at the moment. I'll need to buy a TV at some point, but will likely wait until my lounge is replastered and I've fully decorated it first!

I would assume the prices of new model year products will go up. Would there also be a pick up in specification of mid range TVs (i.e ~50" with full HDR)?
