...a console that looks and works exactly the same as PS3 but with a different brand name.

Let's say you have never heard of PS3, would you buy it...? ;)

Presumably this question is aimed at those who have held off buying it due to some sort of opposition to Sony or something?

Depends on the name on it. I don't think i would put my trust and quite a few quid in an unknown manufacturer tbh. Look at gizmondo. Being the PS brand will carry it a lot of favors as, for me at least, i have built up a trust of the brand over the past decade.
If it was another big company then i would plan to buy one, but i wouldn't be rushing out on launch to get one.

I assume it is to see how many 'Sony fanboys' bought it.

Actually, its aimed at those who have bought or wanted to buy Sony PS3.

No. No games. Depends if you do your research or not really, but I think with this generation, we have learnt that brand loyalty stings us in the arse. Many of those who have had illustrious years with the first two Playstations are still wondering why Sony isn't keeping the pace with the PS3.

I didn't do my research for example. But - I still think it's an ok console, just not worth the 425 asking price and not as good as 360 or Wii.

Not sure about this one. PS3 is claimed to be 'most' powerful of the three consoles.

PS2 is the most inferior console of the last generation yet it was/is still selling like hot cakes!

Same here, it it was say Daewoo then no. For that sort of money I'd like to have a little more guarentee. Then again I thought the dreamcast was a sure thing :D

Plus a brand new console takes a while to get devs onboard.

I wouldnt spend the money.

I had a Ps1 loved it great console, didn't actually get a ps2 because I was more into Pc gaming at the time and wasn't impressed with the ps3 so went for a 360. If anything a different brand, same console and same price would not have changed my mind, in fact it would have made me even more inclined towards the 360.

If I had £425 spare right now, I'd go into town and buy a PS3. I know in time the games will come and I really enjoyed playing Motorstorm. :D

If I had never heard of PS3 or the Playstation brand and a new console came on the scene at £425, i'd laugh and say "who in the hell is gonna spend that on a console."

I'm no fan boy of any of the consoles. I have just ordered a Wii as im not too fussed by graphic details (I have a reasonable spec PC for those). I just want fun with a console. The hardware will age quickly so wanting high detail et... is for PC hardware.

I saw a PS3 running in the local Comet. It looked good but the games on the Wii are much more fun. I can see a group of people enjoying the Wii more than a PS3. Online i'm sure the PS3 and XBOX360 will have more fun FPS games etc... The Wii just reminds me of days on the N64 playing Mario Kart 64 with 8 people round. Great days!

Thats like flushing 400 quid down the loo. So no.

no and i wouldnt of bought one the same as the 360 with a name id never heard of a year ago either

infact thinking about it im very suprised the PS did so well when it came out , it was expensive and a risk when compared too the 2 already well established consoles

Well I'd buy it if the opinions of the likes of IGN, Gamespot, 1UP and the likes had reviews saying it was a quality product with some good games coming out.

Its got nothing to do with the Playstation brand, a lot of people and myself included just will not fork out £425 for a games console that has no games released, it just makes no sense.

Though that will change in the next 12-18 months when it starts to get some AAA titles and a significant price drop. The PS3 will eventually take over the 360 in sales if MS doesnt get off their idle backside and start doing something about it, instead of just relying on Halo 3 to sell some consoles.

The only thing MS needs to do is release a reliable and quiet 360. Plus enabling DivX playback would be a bonus.

If it wasn't branded PS3, I wouldn't of bought it. Sony isn't going to let they major franchise die without a fight.

Sony used to be a huge name in home cinema and used to offer great products that stood above the rest back then (shame things changed :( ). Plus they had final fantasy on their side from the start.
