would you ever buy a second hand cpu?

how much would you pay for a second hand q9450?

ive got my eyes on one and are wandering if its worth £125

the reason ive gone for this is the q6600 is selling for around £65 - £85

Most 2nd hand PC parts are fine provided they aren't DOA. The only one which has caused me issue on a couple of occasions is active cooling on GPUs and Mobo's that has been on it's last legs. If there is a good enough saving then go for it. Just make sure you buy from somewhere with protection for your purchase or from someone who has a good track record.

Yup

The only thing I'm a bit wary of buying second hand are hard drives (but I have bought many)

I AM NOT A SHOP springs to mind :)

Never bought one but sold plenty on the 'Bay, and I know every buyer from me got a fully working, clean and properly-handled item.

SO if it ever came to it, I would probably buy one second-hand too, providing I was happy with feedback etc.

I've had a few second hand cpu's from ebay, never had a problem with them. If they work correctly when you get them, chances are they will for years to come!

I would probably buy one IF it was seriously cheaper than retail ( 40% of cost or lower)

That way even if the previous owner was a muppet and did not use ESD handling precautions I would not be out much money

I have no problem buying second hand cpu as I have done previously. however I will only if I can make a substantial saving. When people try to push the price to high I would rather pay the difference and go new.

I try and buy brand new, by the time I need a new CPU, the prices come down to affordable levels, this way i get a faster chip and a guarantee!!!

2nd hand is normally pretty trustworthy for a CPU

But I personally, would still rather just pay full price and get it new.

Which is strange tho, as I would definitely buy a whole PC 2nd hand lol
