I have 2 7850s, overclocked as per my sig although I have dropped core to 1110 to ensure absolute stability.

I have the option of trading to a Powercolor R9 290 for £40. I'm thinking yes.

Am I making a mistake?

I've upgraded from a HD 7850 crossfire setup and it is much better because I was being limited by the 2GB VRAM, also worth it for not having any microstutter to deal with.

A 290 has about double the power of a 7850, double the memory and of course no crossfire issues to worry about.

If the model is the PCS+ you get a decent cooler and overclock too so it's more like getting a 970/290X which have double the power of a 7870.

In short: yes

Sorry for clarity I was trading in my 7850's and an old Moto G I upgraded from recently. After trade in it was £41 and saved me the hassle of postage etc even if I could have got a little more privately.

I've done the trade now at a cost of £41 plus parking fees and will run all the tests once my wife has woken up and won't mind me making noise :)

It's a Powercolor PCS+ and I will of course test it later as I've read about the issues some cards had.
Providing all is well though I think a good upgrade for £40 :)

Plus as it was a bricks and mortar trade I have warranty for 12 months.

Whomever picks up the old cards is in for a treat, they are both BIOS updated to 1110/1350 so will run a damn sight faster than a stock card. They may not realise though as they were both overclocked editions in the first place!
