if i moved away from my dell IPS to say a good quality TN panel would i notice much difference? i've been sitting looking at this for near on a year i like it but things like ghosting sometimes bug me (9ms) response time and i use a black desktop so can see the mouse ghosting all the time. one thing i love about this monitor is i can view it from practically any angle with very little colour change. i remember 4 or 5 years ago with my Benq monitor if i moved 6 inches left or right blacks used to turn a greyish colour.

You've kind of answered your question. If colour shift bothers you, then moving to a TN panel isn't going to make you happy.

There are however a range of 4ms response 144hz IPS panels out there to suit any budget. As long as it's £450 or more :p

In a side by side comparison, definitely I can tell difference in color between IPS and TN. But otherwise a good TN panel will only give away when you shift the position, with very poor vertical angles.

I moved from an old IPS dell to a 144hz TN Benq and hated it - washed out colours and poor black levels.

Quickly moved on to a Dell U2515H IPS - absolutely love it, great colours/brightness and 1440p goodness at 25" is lovely and sharp.

You have VA which sits inbetween IPS and TN. So if you do want a step down, VA would be the next rung in the ladder. Personally for me TN is not even an option, you just dont buy them..
