Now in this car park there is a car with no tax and checking askmid what appears no insurance. Im pretty sure you cant sorn a car in that car park as it doesnt class as off the road, If it did mine would be there. :p

Would you report it as its been there so long some of the tyres are flat. The tax ran out last Oct I believe.

Would you report it as its a nightmare parking sometimes and its taking up a parking space.

With this whole new DVLA database and all, aren't they supposed to automatically know when a car tax has expired ...

It would depend on the circumstances of the carpark.

I.E in my car park there are a few cars which are sorned and have about 5cm of dust on but i wouldnt report them as to me its their space and its off the road as you have to buy a space here and in my mind you can do what you want in your space.

if it was a public car park then i gues its in the public domain and shouldnt be there without the correct papers, i.e what if it sets on fire and melts all the surrounding cars then you can't claim on the insurance.

That car park looks like it's for a housing estate and it's probably legally valid to SORN the car and leave it here. Not necessarily a considerate thing to do but certainly valid. Technically you could dump your car in Tesco car park and then SORN it, however Tesco might take issue with that.

I'd report it as abandoned if you want rid of it.

Just as an FYI I really would not rely on AskMID. It takes up to 2 weeks to add vehicles to the database once they have been insured, so if it was taxed but uninsured, I would've left it for a while.

Shop it in, though.
