The wedding starts at 1:30, will be there at the reception too so would you take a tripod along with the rest of the gear?

I didn't have a tripod when I did a wedding and I wouldn't take one personally. Too much moving around etc. If you're the main photographer then it would be a good idea for group shots etc otherwise forget it. :)

Do you have a good flash and diffuser or the like? If so I wouldn't bother with a tripod.

if I was taking a group shot for official stuff, for framing pros always seem to use them,
but im often thinking of medium format stuff with a metz flash mounted on the side
for candids and personal photos it's not as important

If theres already a main photographer, id be inclined to leave the tripod. Let the happy couple strike their official pose for the hired photograher, while you capture the best of the candids. The last wedding I was at, the hired photographer didnt take a tripod, just his 5D (and his missus for the candids) especially true in the restaurant afterwards where theres not much space. I have to admit to being a p-shooter indoors though :p
