Would you upgrade from a 350D to a 30D ?

Hi All,

got a chance on buying a used 30D at a very good price (that hasn't been used, so like new really)

At the moment I have a 350D + BG-E3 grip.

The guy is wanting £475 for the 30D

what you reckon

You can get the 30D for £100 more than he's selling you...it's a worthy upgrade but not at his price, it is technically 2nd hand.

The 30D is in a completely different league to the 350D, and thats a very good price. Don't forget the 40D will be out soon, and lots of 30D's will be going cheap.

Very true, probably the reason he is selling, but then again for that price its a very good deal. Is that for the body only?

I would expect so, won't be a grip and at most you'd get a kit lens.

just to give you an idea, my local independant camera shop has promised me a 30D for £300-£350 when one gets traded in for the 40D, they will come down next month with the 40D release.

I did

, and I would do it again in a flash (excuse the pun). It's really like going from a P+S to the 350d all over again (the noise levels are fantastic, the speed, custom profiles, better display, better layout, heavier/bigger etcetc). And regardless of what's being said £475 is an excellent price if it's as new. The release of the 40d wont impact the cost much initially, so you'll be waiting for quite a while if you want to save what will in reality be quite a small amount over current prices (I would be very surprised if they fall below £500 new in the UK). I spent 2 months scouring the bay and forums for mine btw, and at £475 for nearly new I would have gobbled it up.
