Hi guys,

I currently own an Enermax Liberty 620W powering the following spec and was just wondering is it sufficient: -

CPU Q6600 @ 3.2GHz
HD4870 Crossfire (Oc'd)
4GB memory
4 HDD's
1x DVD drive
1 water pump

The system seems stable enough but its just something concerning me. The PSU is certified SLi and Xfire ready according to their website.

Any advice would be great.

No, Not at all.

As suggested, so long as the rails are stable and there are no problems with the PSU then keep it. I have a Seasonic S12 500w which is 3 years old still powering my rig.

So how do I know if the rails are stable

Another thing I think may be worth a mention is as I have two 4870's, both obviously require 2 x 6 pins power connections each.
However the PSU only has 2 red coloured PCI-e connectors. I have attached the second 4870 via a non red connector on the PSU will this matter.

You can check the rails are stable using software tools - Motherboard Monitor might do it, Speedfan definitely should. However if you want to be sure then a cheap digital multimeter will be much more reliable and shouldn't cost more than £10-15 for a basic model.

It won't matter in the least - power supplied is power supplied in this case. The reason they are colour coded is almost certainly simply for neatness and to clue people in on which connectors are the right kind to use.

on the power plugs.

My Thermaltake 850 toughpower also has 2 red PCI-e, but they are 8 pin plugs. These are not to be confused with the 8 pin plug for the motherboard which are black, and are socketed differently to prevent accidental connection to the wrong port.

The HD4870's only use 2 x 6pin PCI-e each, so I use a 8pin to 6pin adapter on my second power connection on each card. As long as the other end is going to the PCI-e ports on the power supply there is no issue.
