Would you use a DVI>HDMI converter?

I have a 22" monitor i'm happy with, but want to connect my PS3 to it.

I've never used this type of converter, so was wondering if anyone else uses one.

Aye, it will be fine. DVI and HDMI are electronically compatible, so there will be no signal loss at all if you use a converter.

However, what is your monitor model and resolution?

Ok, so I bought the adapter, but the PS3 feed seems like it's playing at a lower resolution. The settings don't seem to allow me to change the resolution either.

I'm guessing I'd need an LCD with an HDMI port to get full HD (1920x1080) quality.

Nope, have you set the PS3 to output to 1080.

There is NO loss in quality, DVI can handle much more than 1080.

Not sure where this HDMI > DVI-D comes from, marketing hype I suppose. There should be no difference, they are electrically compatible, the only difference is that audio is also carried through HDMI on the same cable. That is it.

I just changed the display settings to 1080p and it's better, although I do notice more jaggy edges around things. It's probably because i'm sitting closer to my 22" monitor compared to my 32" TV. :)

Thanks guys.
