Well, I am in a bit of a dilema today.

I was offered £350 for my current Rig, quite out of the blue (spec below):

• DFI-LP- nF4 SLI-DR Motherboard
• Opteron 144 @2.6 GHz (FX 55 speed)
• 2x1GB OCZ Platinum 3200 running 2-3-3-8 in dual channel.
• HIS ICE Q3 X1900 XTX 512 mb
• Maxtor 160 GB SATA drive (Drive C:\)
• Silver Sony 12X DVD R+ & -Dual layer
• Silver generic DVD drive
• Silver Case fan controller
• Case: Aluminum Thermaltake Tsunami Wave, Sliver
• Seasonic 600Watt PSU

This is without an OS so I get to keep my Win XP Pro,

It then leaves me money to buy:
- Intel Core 2 Quad LGA775 Q6600 GO SLACR 2.40GHz Retail
- Abit IP35 Pro Motherboard
- 2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500C5 DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
- ThermalRight SI-128 Cooler
Bundle Deal from OCUK = £464

- Antec P182 Super Midi Tower Case - Gun Metal Black (£80)
- Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU (£90)
- OcUK GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (£234)
- Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB ST3500630AS SATA-II 16MB (£64)
- NEC AD7170S Serial ATA 18x18 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) – OEM (£19.66)

But I would mis my current Rig especially as I have just got a nice new Opteron 185 dual core.....

Is £350 a good price for a single core Opteron system ?
Would I be better splitting it ?

Is this the right time to be buying a Quad core Intel, with an AMD solution around the corner, which will put pressure on all prices ???

Decisions, Decisions....

I put a price check in the appropriate place for the whole Pc, but no one has chosen to air an opinion....comments most appreciated guys....I simply can't decide.

I would say thats a decent price for the hole PC. and far less hastle than splitting and selling indiviually. This is what youd get if you sold it in parts

GPU £80
Case 40-50
Hard Drive 20
Mobo 30
RAM 30-40
CPU 40

Id keep your psu and and replace with a cheaper like allready stated.

slap the 185 into it.

The 185 is already in it...but the guy is happy with single core, so thats what it will be configured to....I might reload my 2. GHz overclock for him...if I can be bothered :D
Then I can sell on the retail 185....I have only had the thing 3 weeks....my how things change !

I have already listed the parts that make the PC to him...so swapping PSUs would be tricky and wrong, added to that the time to rewire everything.......plus its the 2005 version of that PSU, used to be black listed on the DFI street forum as not stable...and I would be looking for something a little more stable with any new build.

I feel a little more happy that its a reasonable price...I just didn't want to sell what is a stable and quality piece of kit..on the cheap side.

Thanks guys for the input...most valuable ;)
