Wouldn't it be superbly ironic...

...if the Duke of Edinburgh ending up in hospital turned out to be food poisoning from Harrod's and the royal family took him to court for it. I think his head would explode.

That would be magnifique if it was the case but Al Fayed hardly needs another reason to think people are out to get him. I do hope the Duke gets well soon, he has been a bit quiet on the old gaffes front too, if he doesn't speak up soon I might have to reconsider my position that £5/year for the Royal Family is better value than any other entertainment.

what's all this about, why would his family sue him for getting food poisoning?

I need to start watching tv:/

haha I think this is the premise:

HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh has gotten a chest infection/food poisoning. The OP was suggesting that it would be ironic if he'd got food poisoning from eating at Harrods and would then launch a legal battle against Al Fayed claiming he tried to kill him. Rather turning the tables on our favourite Egyptian asylum seeker :D

indeed. Would rather he didn't put himself under too much stress though!
When HRH and HRH sadly pass by, we are going to see President Brown or The Republic of Britain :(

I know someone who used to work for Al Fayed and was asked to conduct illegal surveillance activities upon employees. He's totally paranoid.

Don't really know, wondered whether the scots like HRH or not? Nothing to do with flaming or having a jibe at you btw.

Some do, some don't, it is difficult to summarise a nation although I think it could fairly be said there are probably more anti-monarchists in Scotland than there are in England. I'm not bothered by them either way, the amount of subsidy that they take is negligible, they bring tourists and money to the country (directly or indirectly) but realistically they have very little impact on my life so I see no reason to alter the status quo. That and the fact that Prince Philip is brilliant value for his gaffes, he is one of the strongest arguments in favour of the Royals to my mind. :)

Well, historically speaking, they are as much Scotland's royal family as they are Englands. Although perhaps they are a bit peeved that James I (sorry, VI) seemed to like England better :p
