Awesome, I used to love em to bits, my bro had an Evo for a brief spell, traded his Turbo Technics Xr4x4 for it :D

awesome, always loved the 190e's! would love to have a dtm styled black one one day with some monster engine in!

Very cool, I love these. The Evo's are really rare. Shame they are about to get a good beating from some E30's in that photo ;) :D

I love this car too, shame I can't get insurance on it. Some places have even refused me with it on my Mums policy. :(

wow that evo is amazing theres a 190e forsle near me....lol
what you recon reliability would be like on a standard 20l type one goign sideways at every opertunity:P

Standard 2.0 is bulletproof....but horrible to drive. ~90BHP if I remember correctly, same as a standard 1850HL, rofl!.......slow and uninteresting.

Those W201s are from when Merc still overengineered and built cars strong. They should be very reliable, The early 2 litres puts out 90hp the later ones with injection around 120 IIRC. Definately go for the latter.

If only MB could make a manual gearbox that was half decent!

does anyone know the spec of the engine in the car of the original post?

did he turbo the 2.5 4cyl? or is it a total conversion and if so where from?

190E for me is complete porn.

I have a severe emotional attachment, freakishly someone else in my class shares the exact same emotional attachment, his parents owned a similar car in the same colour

The attachment for me stems from childhood memories of my dad "treating" me to a ride in it. I call it treated because it was his car, and because we only had a single garage at home the car would sit in the works' garage for most of the time, I would only have a sit in it every now and then. It was a G reg.

Well the engine looks like the standard fit unit (with the exception of the turbo of course!), but I'm sure he's done plenty of internal work to it. If I'm reading the dyno printout correctly, 350bhp.

The engine is the Cosworth 2.3 cylinder twin cam, 16 valve, from the second highest spec model - it is not the Evo engine - I expect there was a fair bit of work to fit it into a non-Cosworth 190E - loom, maybe mounts, etc etc..(unless, of course, he started with a Cosworth :D )

RE the turbo system, probably concocted him itself, although it's not the first time I've seen a Cosworth turbo'd 190, so maybe some obscure manufacturer makes a kit out there :D

I read it as a 2.4 turbo'd to 370bhp which is dam nice. Can the Evo 2.5 version get 370bhp with no turbo ?
