WoW Account Disappeared?!

Hey all,

Bit of a strange one. I built my new PC and re-installed WoW the other day. I was able to log on and download all of the updates. After installing the second smaller update I went to log back on to check for any more but it wouldn't let me do so, it said my account details were incorrect. I tried a few times with no luck. I was however able to log into the account management section of their web page, so I assumed it was an in game authentication issue and left it.

Went to try again today and it's still the same, but now I cannot log into the website account management either!

I tried the forgot account/password thing and it says my email address isn't registered!

So it seems my account has disappeared off the face of the earth. I've only had the game a couple of weeks, bought it off an auction site but it was all sealed etc. and seemed new so I doubt its been deleted due to a dodgy cd key or something.

I have of course contacted WoW support, only by email for the moment though so waiting on a response.

Bit confused

Any ideas?

That's not good. When that happened to me in Star Wars Galaxies they said it was because of a problem with the data centre or something (got blown up in a storm if I recall correctly.) They keep back-ups though so they will no doubt get your account working again as soon as they read the e-mail.

Good luck. :)

I reead on a forum about something like this. Some guy had got hold of someones account information, he offered to level up for them or something along those lines. He changed all the account information and ripped the guy off instead of helping him as agreed.

corbantis was offline for hours, I remember it, im pretty sure I logged into the squil cave also heavily out numbered when it did come up! good old days.

See! Caused a lot more than "15 minutes of downtime." :p

Well I have made some progress as such. The WoW Europe site accepted that I had an account and sent me a new password. Unfortunately that password didn't work and also when I changed it to something a little more memorable that password didn't work either. Although the account management site said everything was fine.

As the problems started after updating WoW I think I will reinstall and give it another bash, see if it allows login at first before the updates.

One other thing I did differently after the reformat was to install WoW using the trial client I downloaded rather than the CDs as I had the first time. Although I was assured the trial client should work fine with a retail CD key maybe this wasn't true?

thats true, reinstalling wow will make no diff to your login sorry since its the same trouble from the website.

Thats the thing, I'm not having any trouble on the site anymore. I can login and manage my account and everything is present and correct.

you can type anything in when the game is looking for an update mate,

it doesnt check the account details until the game is actually ready to play.

I found that out on the release day!! spent ages trying to create my account, i knew there was a massive patch to download so ended up typing in rubbish into the username and password boxes, and it downloaded the updates.

So re-installing wont do anything. Are you sure you have not router or firewall issues blocking access?

I'm sure. My router config hasn't changed from how it was pre-reformat and the firewall I deleted all rules concerning it and let it attempt access again and allowed it, exactly the same as I did before. Hmmmmmm

Ok then, so I just did a full reinstall using the CDs instead and it worked a charm! Downloaded 3 updates and then logged in no problem at all.

Answers on a post card for that one...
