Bugger! got an email yesterday afternoon saying I had been suspended for chat violations and tried to access my account only to find an authenticator had been added. The ******* dont seem to have changed my email because I was automatically sent a reset password at the same time as i got the suspension. Im guessing they were selling the gold in my account or something. Seems a bit of a nub mistake not changing my email details but my traders seem to be gone and they had about a grand gold between them sigh.

Anyway, dont share my comp, open attachments etc. so I can only think ive got infected with a stealer somehow. So whilst i **** around with blizz trying to get my account back, going to scramble the comp.about to do a hard drive wipe on my comp so i presume there is nothing pw stealer wise that can survive that?
 
iirc some ui mods had some sort of program that could steal account details hidden in them so be careful when you dl them.

Don't play wow though so just going by what I've heard.

Although are you 100% sure you've not fell for a phishing scam at some point
 
You can't hack a Warcraft account, the only way they can get your details is if you physicall tell someone them either directly or falling for a phising scam, or you've picked up a keylogger, or you use a very poor username/password combination that could have been guessed.
 
Same thing happened to me a few months ago. I had quit back in March yet I got an email back in October I think? Telling me that I had been suspended for the same reason as you and that I should contact Blizzard about it blahblah. Did so and also discovered that the asswipe had also PAID a month to actually log into the account and access my characters.. and do the usual vendor all gear and send the goldl to some level 1 via the mailbox.

If this had happened when I cared I'd have sorted it by now, but since I quit and I don't itend to ever come back, I'll just leave it like it is

I blame Battle.net. I hadn't merged my account with the new system and it was flawed.
 
Definitely not phishing can't think of any time i have been asked for the password. Wouldn't be easy to guess either unless you went through every combo. I'm wondering about the addons now, installed some the day I got whacked, interesting. Anyway wipe is underway, getting an authenticator once its all sorted, wish I had previously! Nothing amazing in the account tho, an old 57 rogue and lots of 20s, about a grand gold and no non-soulbound blues so meh. Sod em. Would advise getting an authenticator tho, free dl for the iPhone.

I got haxored in the MMO i play and the GMs sorted it all out in 48h
all they do is check the IPs that logged in and see its not you and, ta da, stuff back.
had a bloody trojan on my end, keylogger im guessing.
check everything not just WoW.
go with asecure email site like hushmail.

No they wont give it back or else people would agree having a mate "hack" thier account sell all the stuff +transfer gold and then email GM and get al lthe stuff back

Ive got hopes ill get it back, reading around its a bit hit and miss. If the account is used for farming they dont seem to be too happy, otherwise from what ive read you get your stuff back. I am hopeful.

glad i don't play wow then :O

its incredibly easy to follow the trail that money leaves and where and who gets it. They can delete it in seconds if they want.

Seems a lot of people are getting screwed over because they haven't switched over to battle.net yet, but at the same time im guessing it makes it harder for IGE etc to sell accounts some how which is a good thing?!

Battle.net conversion was forced a while ago, you can't even log in unless you converted your account.
 
Welcome back to the real world OP - just stay away from red and blue pills and you'll be fine. Remember sun tan lotion when you go outside for the first few weeks.

Ive got it set up for when i eventually get my account back. Looking through armoury, all my characters are there but I have an additional level 1 character on Neptulon and another on Shattered Halls, so I suspect someones been given all my gold and items.

Did Neyo want to come back from the Matrix? Haha :) Dont actually play a lot, couple of hours a week otherwise I would be really annoyed, im more annotyed about the fact I bought a G13 and now cant try it out. maybe the free trial...:eek:
 
Heya mate

Nothing yet, suppose im waiting for billing to get back to work tomorrow, then a couple of days to clear the backlog from the weekend. Ive got access to the account but theres still an authenticator put on it by the ***** latched onto it so cant get past that screen. Ive emailed you, any help appreciated.

Not sure why they didnt completely stuff me by changing the email but they got caught short with the 3 hour ban and auto password change. I expect ive been looted to the nines sill wait until i get back in and see whats there.
