WoW - Account Trading?

Just before I start, this isn't about the moral/rule side of things, so please don't go there :).

Basically, I'm growing ever more tempted to try and swap my account with someone else, basically I'm getting less fond of my class (Hunter) and looking to move to a Mage.

Since I already have my hunter at 70, with decent gear + mount, I seriously don't want to, or have the time to level another class to 70, and then grind for mounts and gear etc etc...

So basically, I'm just wanting to hear from anyone who has done this, how easy it is to find people (assuming you don't know them in real life...) and just general stuff really.

Thanks :)

If you know people in real life with WoW accounts id try that, other than that approach id stay well clear of trading accounts over the net as you never know what you might be getting your self in to.

Well the only thing is to hope blizzard eventually allow class changing, i play WoW as elf druid and love it BUT seeing all the other people wandering round in mail or plate kinda makes me green with envy lol

Yeah we can wish, doubt it will ever happen though, as everyone would just continually swap the the most OP class at the time.

Ah well, guess it's not as widespread as I had hoped. Still, if anyone knows anything, or happens to have a good horde 70 Mage they want to trade, I'm all ears.

You will be running a massive risk of getting scammed, do you want to do that?

Buying an account is one thing, though paypal or something you might have a little protection, but trading, the guy who says he has a L70 mage kitted out might be giving you the details of a L10, by the time you log in and check its too late.

Yeah I thought about the risks, which was really the idea of this thread, to see if there were establish websites/routes for doing it more safely.

Doesn't seem that there is.

An RL friend of mine got 2 free level 70s because two of his guild members quit playing. A Warlock and a Rogue, both of them in full epics.

Just become an active member of a decent guild and wait until people start dropping out :P

The same friend bought an account once, and the person he bought it from managed to retrieve the details by emailing Blizzard saying his details were stolen, etc. therefore getting his account back and keeping the money.

It's honestly not worth your time unless you can REALLY trust someone and get full ownership transferred to you.

I have a kara / frozen shadoweave specced mage and a rogue at 70 and reckon im just gona ditch my account all together. Never played wow since last november!

wonder if its worth anythin

Yeah, I doubt I'd get anything from my guild, as they're very close to the rules on things like these, hence me posting here :D.

Seems like I'm out of luck on this one then, thanks anyway guys. Guess it's time to hit the grind before Wrath.

They can sell quite well I think, not sure how to go about it though.

Obviously I'd be more than happy to take the burden of the account off of you though and save you the hassle :P

hahaha

if 50 quid went into my account , the password would be yours lol :P

knowing my luck i would wanna play again in wotlk

Though you'd say that :P

There are many things I would pay for related to games, but can't say I'd actually pay for an account.
I'd say to keep it, as one day you're more than likely to want at least a quick go again.

If you're 'pretty much giving it away' I'd be more than happy to take it off your hands or at least use it whilst you don't. :P

I myself only have a 40 Rogue. Got bored after playing for a month and stopped paying for my subscription.

I'd wager that the person who takes that off your hands will eventually sell it. If it's going to be sold then the money should be in your pocket.

Just to back up the whole "trading is bad" thing, a guy in an old guild of mine decided to trade his t6 mage for a rogue with both warglaives. He ended up getting scammed, and the other guy took over his account but his details were dodgy. He got the account back after giving a lot of information to blizzard, but it took a while.

One thing I'd always be wary of is that the original owner can get the account back because of the secret question and cd code.

Yep, like I said, without getting the person to do an email transfer ownership, then they can always get it back. I'm pretty sure there was an option (like in Steam) to transfer ownership between email addresses.

It's really not worth it at the end of the day.
