In your WoW folder, there should be an "Interface" folder. If not, create it.

In that folder, make an "Addons" folder if it's not already there.

The addons themselves should go in the "Addons" folder. Once there the game should pick them up.

It's odd it's not created them itself though - when I install WoW they're already there when I go looking.

The client should create the files (With the default Blizzard UI Elements, such as Auction House etc) if they are not present when you start the game up.

Path should read: X:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns

hi there, well ive created these files but addons are still not working also in the create char screen there is no addon button, so like i used too post patch i cant tick any of the add ons to be used if out of date.

hmm, tricky this, hopefully im not going to have to try and find all the discs and so a clean install. or is this the downside of using the blizzard site to dl the game??

I can confirm I downloaded the entire thing from Blizzard (WOW and TBC) and all my addons work perfectly.

Try logging in with a character, and then log back out. Make sure that the addon folder is located in the \World of Warcraft\Interface\ section. Put all folders in there directly. They should be for example:

\interface\\addons\titan and so on.

Also on the screen where you chose addons be sure that "load out of date" addons is ticked at the top. It could be the addons you have aren't compatible with the 2.4.3 patch however.
