Been reading up on a few issues with World of Warcraft caused by dual core AMD processors, is this an ancient problem that has been resolved? I have also heard that WOW now supports/utilises dual cores giving a performance boost, can anyone fill me in?

Not sure on the issues for AMD, been using one for 2 years and never ahd any issues with it. I think there was a /command to activate dual core run for wow, nto sure what it was, will go check google, although my google skills are not strong...
To be fair, if its the FPS bug you mean, well, 64FPS should be enough, i run wow on a 24" dell, and it works fine for me, no slow down, doesnt flicker.... I dont think you need blueray qual in wow do we lol..

do we?

Doubt dual core would make one iota of difference to performance. Hardly a cpu intensive game is it?

I don't have any performance issues but I'm thinking of sticking a dual core cpu in and don't want to suddenly start having issues. :)

It isn't the 64FPS thing, it's stuttering etc apparently, or was at any rate.

good cpu on the old 40 man raids was essential when everyone started casting spells as the particle count went from small to insane in no time. Apart from that RAM is the biggest thing that WOW loves tbh. Going from 1gb to 2gb for that game is a huge leap in terms of performance in any scenario.

WoW runs really well even on quite old hardware - I know a guy who raids 5 nights a week with his Athlon 3200 (Socket A), 9800Pro, 1GB DDR machine. Admittedly it's only at 1024x768, but he gets a solid 60fps.

I do think CPU and RAM would benefit this game more than graphics card though.

As for the whole "dual core" argument, I think WoW is designed to detect it automatically and utilize it, but there is a command line switch to force it if it doesn't. Try having a look in task manager while the game is running to see if you need to activate it manually or not.

Cheers guys but you're off the point a little bit, I don't have a dual core yet but want to know if it causes any problems.

I getting a no vibe :)

I found on my dads amd x2 the performance was quite disappointing, not long after tbc came out im sure the performance drop a huge amount on his system.
