In my own little world
Finally went out and bought this after quitting just before it's release. I logged in for the first time in 19 months into Dalaran and it was completely empty. I stood there completely lost not remembering how any of it works with no addons. I managed to stumble upon some guy who gave me a hearth stone to Orgrimmar. Now in Orgrimmar I didn't recognise any of it as it's all changed. I'm really lost, I'm sat here googling away while the 14GB of updates chugs away in the background as everything new outside Orgrimmar is level 11 and no match for my level 80 undead mage lol - Help ! :(

TBH Cataclysm ruined it a little for me, the game lost all of it's nostalgia when the 'old world' was updated.

I don't think there were that many lvl 80 quests added with Cataclysm just some dungeon ones etc, they mainly just focussed on overhauling lvl 1-60 questing.

I would make a new char, maybe a worgen as the starting zones and quest have all changed

If you're actually just back now and have purchased the game, contact blizzard support (Can phone them from Skype now) and tell them someone was going to scroll of ress you, you'll get 7 days playtime free along with a level 80 char or a free migration.

:D

Go to the "Bounty Board" thing that is in the valley of honour and pick up either the quest for vashij (underwater zone) or Hyjal, they are both level 80 starter zones.

I completely forgot about the scroll of res until after I bought credit, I was planning to do that :(

Yup I managed to fumble my way to Hyjal last night :)

You still can, phone the customer service and say you made a mistake and they'll give you free game-time and a level 80.

Couldn't work out why my addons weren't working so I checked the shortcut I was running and it was wrong. Turns out I didn't need the 14GB of updates once I ran the right one lol

The nostalgia was a big thing for me too. I think I'll wait another year or 2 and have another go when it goes free to play. It would be fun to lvl up some new characters with some friends. You can easy run it on an old netbook. I'm waiting for someone to port it to a phone :)

the nostalgia part was nice, yes, but for me it felt quite epic when the whole world i had known for the last 6-7 years just changed overnight. the cataclysm was quite an epic thing and brought me lots of new stuff to learn and see. brilliant idea and well executed imo. probably been my favourite expansion (or at least tied with TBC) and i'm not just saying that because i cleared 8/8 heroic dragon soul last night :D

They added loads but wacked the EXP up so high you don't get to see a fraction of them before hitting 85. At which point most people just run dungeons.

I do think Blizzard need to slow down exp gains. You can barely do a zone without it turning grey and if you do BGs, dungeons or even tradeskilling it be grey long before you done!

The questing seems so much easier and there's lots of quests that just say speak to someone for 5g and 30k xp. I'm already close to lvl 84 after a few days questing in Hyjal, Kelp thar forest and shimmering expanse. Of the 3 or 4 dungeons i've done so far they also seem rather short and easy.
