Hi been playing WOW for a month or so now with a Blood Elve MAGE,im at level 16 but cant seem to get to grips playing a mage and die quite often, practice i guess.
My question is what other classes/ races are good to play with with as im probably going to start a new character and keep my mage till a later date and see how i get on with a new class and new server.

I've levelled a number of characters to 80 and Paladins are the easiest by far in my opinion. They do good burst damage and can get out of a lot of situations that would kill a Mage. Just make sure you spec into the Retribution tree and use a 2-hand weapon when available.

I don't know where you've put your talent points on your Mage, but chucking them all into the Frost tree will make your levelling experience a lot safer and more serene. A slowed monster doesn't hit the nimble Mage!

hi thanks for the reply most of my talent points have gone into fire, slower monsters are easy for a mage ive found, faster monsters higher levels ive had a little trouble with.
i might try a paladin later on :)

Mages can be tricky to start with but ultimately worth it :) If you're learning then stick with frost to level, gives you some good control.

Hybrids are probably the easiest to level, I can vouch for the pally :)

I think you may have misunderstood a little bit :)

Put your talents in the Frost tree as it emphasises controlling monsters by improving your frostbolt spell, as well as giving you increased defenses deeper into the tree. You can improve all your frost spells such that mobs are slowed much more and often get frozen in place, allowing you to get much higher critical chances against them with the Shatter talent. They also never get close enough to hit you before they're dead.

Keep at it dont make a new char, and how your 16 after a month ive no idea =D, just look on youtube for some mage basics, definately spec frost and try to be smart with your skills dont use poly on mobs unless your pulling too, and try spam nova as soon as its off cooldown will help your surv aswell as keeping shield up

Keep with the mage mate, a very fun class... you need to be pretty quick with it but once you get used to it you'll love it.

I personally wouldn't recommend a Paladin, extremely boring to level and a joke at 80 (a 3 year old could play one)..

If you are actually looking for something a little easier, try a hunter when you get a pet you're a one man party in PVE.

Really enjoyed levelling my priest when I played, they're a bit rubbish until about level 12, and then they're really good fun all the way through to endgame. Also had a rogue, and whilst they're fun to quest with, they're very very squishy.

After about lvl 15 Mage has got to be the easiest class to level. You might want to check your spec. Level as frost, you have no downtime. Plus you can make your own food....

I played a Mage and a Rogue at 80. Both had gladiator titles, and my Mage had amazing PVE gear. I quit after Yogg hard mode.

Different classes are strong at different points during leveling. For example a dagger rogue is all about stunning and not getting hit but you don't get your first stun until level 26 and then you get your second at 30 and your in godmode for a while! Feral druids damage sky rockets at level 50 once you get mangle.
At level 16 you haven't had access to any of the really good talents, and that is the same for all classes. Nearly all trees gives a decent ability at level 20(21?) as you need to have spent 10 talent points in the tree. The same is true at levels 30/40/50/60/70/80.

I've leveled a Mage and Rogue to 80. Hunter, Druid, Priest, Warlock to 60. And I can honestly say, you will never have an easier time leveling then a Frost Mage. You can conjure food, have shields, perma-kite your targets. I've soloed Every named boss mob during leveling. I've soloed mobs 4-5 levels higher then myself. I do agree that Rogues are somewhat easy to level as well, but not nearly as easy as a mage.

Hunters and locks are fun to lvl up there not much you cant solo when leveling up on them . If you wanna have a bit of fun and very little down time roll a DRUID. Plenty of differnt ways to play druid . ;)

Got a 80 Mage (my first character), and an 80 Pala, Rogue, Druid & Priest.

I found the pala easiest to level, although I knew a lot more about the game than when I was leveling the mage (I think I was level 20 or so before I found out about talents and caster stats, and of course, I clicked everything rather than key/mouse binds) :D

I'd love to level as Frost again now I know what I'm doing. As has been said, using pure Frost talents will help, check out some of the Frost levelling builds on wowwiki.

Got a mage, pally and spriest at 80 and I'll say the pally the easiest to level and mage the hardest. One on one the mage all right but pull multiple mobs and you got problems. I levelled my pally as holy (healing spec not DPS) and I was almost un-killable. Throw a heal in your rotation and you can fight multiple mobs forever while they kill themselves due to reflective damage! Mind you I prefer my mage at lvl 80. Much easier to play in dungeons.

Got a lvl 72 Affliction Loc and I say that easier then the mage too. With self heals like Life Drain and of course the pet you’ve got very high survivability.

Once, you hit lvl 15 you can use the dungeon finder. I levelled a rogue from 15-30 using nothing but that. Didn’t like the rogue at first, died more times on that char then any other. But in dungeons the char great and now I’ve the abilities that make questing much easier.

Sorry, but that's not true at all. Mage and Hunter are by far the easiest classes to level. Frost Magi can pull up to 3 mobs the same level and be ok. Especially after you get Water elemental. Shatter Combo = GG mob. Sheep one, have your pet tank the other, you kite the 3rd. Even if the mob hits you, if he breaks your shield he gets frost novaed. If he resists, you can use frost nova. You pet can easily solo any mob his level, just make sure you tag it. Also, a frost mage can solo elites, easily....

hunter bm spec is prob the easiest

Nothing easier than leveling a BM specced Hunter.

Leveled pretty much every class too.

Mages are easy as some have pointed out but you really should know how to use the mage class in order to take on multiple targets, sometimes we forget the difference between ourselves and other players.

I started as a mage about 3 weeks ago and i'm now at lvl 46. I found if you're solo-ing your best bet is to frost trap and hit them hard. I've been hitting the dungeons quite a lot, I did 50k xp in one dungeon last night and i'm lvling quite quickly
