WOW Character change?

Nothing easier than leveling a BM specced Hunter.

Leveled pretty much every class too.

Mages are easy as some have pointed out but you really should know how to use the mage class in order to take on multiple targets, sometimes we forget the difference between ourselves and other players.

A Pala tank is far easier and quicker to lvl, you have no waits for random dungeons and you can tackle immense amounts of mobs solo if you're questing.

I love the Mage class and played one for all TBC, but their ability to pull off immense solo tricks is now practically gone. My Pala tank soloed every 5 man quest at level 80, except one which has a cooldown on the quest item. Even as Ret I can just drop into a group of 7 Converted Heroes in Icecrown, kill them all in about 10 seconds and finish on full health and mana.

It's a tank's game these days.

Oh no doubt the Paladin is a PVE God when you hit max level. However, we were discussing getting to max level. Mage and Hunter is recorded to be the fastest/easiest in some....article I read. I know I don't have solid proof other then I leveled those classes myself, but just trust me.

Well to be fair, the OP simply mentioned trying a new class and server. The levelling process is comparatively short, so looking forwards to level 80 isn't unreasonable.

I actually have a Horde and Alliance mage at level 80, but a new player is unlikely to be especially proficient at frost AoE grinding - either the method or knowing the locations. AoE grinding will totally ruin the first-time levelling experience. Also they nerfed all the best locations. He mentioned dissatisfaction with dying often - a Ret Pally, Beastmastery Hunter, Feral Druid or Shadow Priest are likely to be the best alternatives in those cases.

I've levelled lots of classes, if you're willing to stick with a MMO and you're willing to put in the time and effort - I'd suggest trying out as many classes as you can. That way you have a first hand basis of comparison when you take a character to 80.

That being said - WoW classes significantly change playstyle once you get to 80 and respec from a levelling build to a 5man heroic or 10/25 raid specs.

As other have said, the mage at high levels is a joy to level with, however, you being 16, makes it a whole new ball game.

I agree with othrs who say frost is good for leveling and at lvl 16 you have limited amount of points so read what each talent does and pick as you wish.

As for killing well, frost bolt hurt and slows, you have fireblast for instant hit damage, Frost nova helps if a mob gets too close.

If you try to AoE 3 mobs and they kill you, try two mobs. If you pull one and 3 run at you, next time sheep the 1st mob, let the other two come, AoE, then take the 3rd one out.

For a mage, its all about getting your spells right, using them as needed, until level 80 then its 2 or 3 buttons mostly lol.

Best advice, get someone to level up with. Keep food and water flowing in your party, keep that int buff running and sheep when you can.

Mage is hard for some, easy for others. If you really want a hybrid class, id go druid. But you will regret not leveling the mage.

This is good advice - the best way to do it if there's a pack of 2 or 3 mobs, is to stand at max range and start casting a frostbolt. While it's casting, click on a different mob (the frostbolt will still head for the mob you had selected when you first started casting) and start casting polymorph. This way, your Polymorph spell is being cast while the frostbolt is in flight. Result: one mob wandering round as a sheep, another is slowed and still at max range.

Nothing could beat a frost mage back in the day. Killing two elites at once in Darkwhisper Gorge as a tiny female gnome = win.

All cloth classes are a total arse ache before about level 20.

don't you mean ALL classes are? not just cloth :) i started a mage, am level 42 after a 2 weeks xP not as fast as some but u should have seen how long it took my dr00d :p

my lil bit o advice is get ya self in a guild :) don;t just jump in any, many have websites, have a look for a friendly guild that have other low levels in too so ya can have buddies to level with. if ya lucky they might boost ya a bit ;)

prob gunna get shot for this but with my mage i cba to go round levelling :o shocked some of you might be, but ive done it all twice from both sides so really sick of it now :p so i managed to level so fast by using the amazing new shiny Looking for more tool, just keep signing up for randoms :) you get some monies, a sack that can have pretty good items in that ya can use, you get good dungeon/raiding experience, alse ask to share Q's too, that way if there are any u can get that lil extra :)

i am finding the mage to be loads of fun, not liking the fact how quickly you can die, but just stick with frost and get all the slowing things and that should help chances of survival :)

Pala. tanks lvl the fastest nowadays with instant dungeon matching, you can also take far more mobs at once than any cloth class, you cannot compare lvling toons prior to the dungeon finder being introduced to how quickly they lvl now, DPS classes sometimes wait for 30 mins plus to get matched whereas a tank is normally within a few seconds, you can finish your instance and be in another one before the the mage has even started the first.

I really wanted to get into playing the rogue, but I don't like the whole energy thing, I prefer a large mana pool. I think I'll start one again though, just to see if I can get into it properly.

Also, my highest is a Paladin, I'm finding it much easier to level that class over the others. As people have mentioned, just spec tanking and you can use the random dungeon finder really easily.

Maybe lately or in the last few months but before it wasn't the case. At least when I leveled a paladin it took ages to burn mobs down where a mage was far quicker.

Wait until your pala is put back in line ;)
