You can only enchant it with enchants that have no min level, Mongoose needs lvl 35 item. even tho my mace was a lvl 40 when i tried still didn't work. As it shows as lvl 1.

You can enchant the heirloom items but they cannot have a level restriction. For instance mongoose the item needs to be level 70+ (I think)
For heirloom the best enchants I think are +25agil on weapon and +4stats on chest. As they are old world enchants and have no level requirement.
At least they are the 2 enchants I had on my 2h and chest for my pally when lvling her. You could go for crusader for lvl 0-60 but personally it just wasnt worth the hassle. +25agil will last you from 0-80 so why bother
Having said that my pally just got to level 80 last night
I looked at her gear and just though omg I need a lot of work done 
Hopefully I can get on a few pugs or guild runs this evening.

Oh yeah i never thought of the level requirements as im over Lvl 40 with miine. Thought it might work. But I guess i will have to go with some lower enchants.
