WoW expansions

Hi all,
Hope you can help me?
I have recently purchased WoW which came in a bundle pack. I have installed the original game and have started to play it.
My question is, if I install the expansion, will this stop me from working through the first game? also i would like to know this about the wraith of the lich king too, so I know if I can install them both but play them when I have complete the first game.

I hope this makes sense :confused:

No it won't have any negative effect on the original wow.

Nope it won't affect your orginial game. It will add a few more choices to staring races.

You will need to be level 58+ to quest in TBC (The Burning Crusade, expansion #1) and level 68+ to quest in WotLK (Wrath of the Lich King, expansion #2)

If you don't have the expansions then the only effect is that certain zones, races are inaccessible to you. If you install the expansions then they are available, however a lot of the zones will be tailored for the high levels. Even with the expansions you'll still spend a lot of time in the original zones so don't worry.

It's worth bearing in mind that The Burning Crusade has some decent level 1-20 zones and content.

That's not technically accurate. You only need to be level 58 to go through the portal into Hellfire Peninsuala. Most people including myself started questing in Hellfire around level 56.

Saying that, If I where you and not in a rush to get to max level, by all means take your time and visit places like WPL/EPL (EK) or Silithus (in Kalimdor) which is the old content lv56 - lv60 which is all but deserted these days.

Do be aware though that there is quite a big jump in mob damage and HP once you enter TBC as the vanilla gear and stats is crap.

Really? Whenever I have gone to Honor Hold as alliance I never got quests to show up? To be fair though I only had a quick look on my level 57 rogue... I think I was mining or something at the time.

Quests in Hellfire start at 58, not sure how the xp from grinding there would compare with questing on Azeroth til then.

I believe per mob it is more, but grinding as a rogue at least was a pain (though I admit my gear sucked with no enchants). The reason was that most of my hits were dodged / parried with an annoying amount of damage when the mob hits me.

Thinking about it my rogue might have been 56.

Think the first quest is lv57 iirc, but from lv56 you can kill mobs where killing two mobs is not far from equalling xp gained from doing old world quests. Ramparts quest is lv59 iirc (it's been years) which is a whole level in itself.

What I said is very correct. You can't quest in TBC below level 58. I never said u cant go there. You can get a mage portal to Shath if ur level 1.

lier because you cant get any quests in hellfire until level 58 and even then some arent available until 60.

leveled 4 chars to 80 recently so i know that for a fact

i wouldnt reconed a noob to go outland at 56! 58 minimum tbh!
