WOW - Heard you can get pets?

Well as you know i am a total noob at WOW as I just stared.

Someone said you can get pets.

Are these pets acctually yours?
Do they fight for you?
What pets can you get?
Someone said you can ride on em, is this true?

You can get little pets but they just follow you around.

You get a mount at L40 which you can ride.

And the only way you will get pets fighting for you is if you are a hunter, who can train any animal to be his fighting pet. Or be a warlock and you get demons.
 
hey up

right lets start from the beginning,

pets,

as a hunter you can tame wild beasts and they fight alongside you, as a warlock you can summon pets that also fight along side you.

as any other characted you can buy pet pets so to speak, these are just animals which run along side you, they serve no other purpose, or any purpose at that lol.


riding.

when you reach the dizzy heights of lvl 40, you can learn to ride a mount. Now depending on your race and character, this will dictate what mount you get, ie trolls get a raptor to ride. Orcs get a wolf, humans get a horse.


Also one thing to note, getting a mount is expensive, but some classes get their mounts free ;)

il add that if you become a certain rank if u will with each race, u can learn to ride their racial mount, but thats a long way off and requires a lot of gameplay
 
you can get a cat off the mad old bag lady who lives outside stormwind in one of the houses, and the bloke under the stairs in undercity will sell you a cockroach. anyone know if its ok to sell an account you no longer use?
 
You can get pets that fight for you no matter what race you are.

I have a hound dog from scarlett monstary, its a lot of hard work to get him and he doesn't last long but it is possible!

The race does matter, because the undead cant be hunters nor can gnomes. If your referring to class, then only hunters and warlocks can get pets

There's an item from the houndmaster in Scarlet that lets you summon a hound to fight for you, anyone can use it.

Incorrect sa'h :D

He gave the whistle thing that Houndmaster Loskey in scarlet monastery drops as an example.There are mechanical yetis that fight for you,mechanical dragons etc.Some are quest rewards,some are drops and some are profession dependant.
 
Yeah you can get disposible pets that have a certaina amount of charges but i dont think that the guy was talking about them. You can get yetis and skirrels and all manner of them but not a lasting pet. Unless you are warlock or hunter.

Aaah, my old Yeti. He saved my bacon (and many others) in a huge fight.
 
Reroll hunter so you can call your pet "Imwithstupid" "CAPSLOCK" "Dingleberry" and any such madness ;)
(yes had em all before/currently)

edit: I want the little Murloc :( but dont have the key code
