Hi guys this morning i became a new owner of a lvl 70 Tauren Hunter for reasons i wasn't going to go into but i will just so you guys dont think im a cheat as im against all that! But yeah, sadly 2 weeks ago a mates brother passed away who i was mates with too and this morning my friend asked if i wanted to take over his brothers account :s It felt really awkward but i agreed!

I was hoping you guys could give me some tips as i feel completely out of my depth! Im in the middle of Outlands with around 3 flying mounts and all epic gear so i hope you guys can give me the best advice for a hunter that you can?! I have been playing WoW on and off since beta so i know the game pretty well just not the classes i haven't been!

Thanks :)

Good reading for hunters.

I play mage/rogue so not that well up on hunters. Mine is only 62 with a tanking pet and beast mastery skills. Its ok at PvE but not good for PvP, mine at least. Its ok and IS the easist class i have played, im sure if you have epics and good bow/gun, you will be fine, maybe go somewhere where the mobs are nto going to kill you and is in horde land where you can pactice your skills for a few days before going into lvl 70 instancies.

Have fun and good hunting.

Right:

Get yourself over to the official wow-europe hunter forums which have a good guide + a load of idiots

Loads to think about and learn with hunters. Easy class to play unskilfully, hard class to master fully, whether you have epics or not.

But I would level your own hunter to 10 or so to get a feel for the class and pet management etc etc. Should only take you 2 hours and will give you a good insight without having to mess about with the 70.

Get into battle grounds and practice Kiting. Find some lower level (62-65)humanoids to get to grips with pet agro and keeping mobs at range.

Depending on gear and spec you will want to learn the art of trapping / chain trapping.

3 specs

Beast Mastery (BM)
Marksman (MM)
Survival (SV)

BM relies on your pet to boot your dmg more than the other specs

MM relies on you stacking attack power and crit

SV relies on you stacking agility and offers you the most utility with regards to crowd control. I had 800 agi unbuffed and still lacked damage compared to MM. Good balanced spec though but you need 700 + agi to get something out of it.

You are not a melee class, with the right weapons you can do ok melee dmg if you need to.

If you already played WOW I'm sure you'll have no problems adjusting to a Hunter, or any other class. If however this is your first time playing WOW, then I'd sideline the hunter and play the game from scratch. That is if you want to play World of Warcraft that is. Once you get a feel for the game (groups) you'll be fine to return to your hunter.

I'll give you two tips :)
1. Keep your pet fully pumped at all times (Green smiley face) - this lets him do 125% damage.
2. If your in a sticky situation, don't be afraid to rely on your pet and let him taunt them off you. Just taunt with your pet, the enemies will go for your pet, and you can run away :p When you get far enough away your pet will disappear and you'll be able to recall them as normal! So it's not entirely savage and disgraceful leaving your pet to be eaten alive :p

As someone stated above..I would start a new char... play that until u feel you want to Raid...do heroics ect.. as in my opinion leveling and end game is so much different.

I've just rolled as a hunter after getting a shaman to lvl 60 at launch and it's pretty fun, although i'll agree that it's an easy class to play badly, i'm trying to get an early start on learning to time my skill shots to maximise damage.

I've read that it's not a key raiding or dungeon class but since i don't have time to play most end game dungoens it doesn't really bother me, although i will be giving the battlegrounds a good go.

I have 4 lvl 70 chars and a lvl 36 hunter and agree its a good class and easy to play but i would start a new hunter till you get the feel for it (you dont wanna go raiding and make a tit of yourself) :) the horde are less forgiving of mistakes or wipes.......and take BG very seriously :) at least on my server

Hunters are my fav class, i used to have 2 - but gave one to a friend when i stopepd playing just over a year ago, only have my level 60 pvp'er left now!... as said before, its one of the easiest classes to play, but to master the hunter is VERY difficult, i think one of the hardest. its easy to find a hunter who isntskilled!

3 types... (as said before) Beasty Mastery(BM), Marksmanship(MM), Survival (SV)

BM - this involves your pet dealing the majority (if not a fair amount) of damage. also give syou pet a few extra talents which aggro mobs onto it. this makes your pet an excellent tank. main stats you will need for this is Agility/Stamina. a class type mainly used for a leveling hunter... PvE, as it does a nice amount of damage, and its very economical on the mana. - the downside to this is its abit pants for PvP, unless your very good at kiting mobs!

MM - probably the most popular of hunter classes (most of them dont know what their doing) this class type deals a HELL of a lot of damage, and has a nice Aura at the end of it :) does enough DPS to contend with any rogue/mage/lock on the damage meters! although the problem with this in instances/raids is that you cause a lot of aggro, lots of aggro which your pet will find it hard to take off you, and so will any tank! - this is why its so hard to play a hunter well, you have to manage your dps on targets very well! with its high amount of DPS, and the limitations to the pet (except for being mightily annoying to casters) makes this type brilliant for PvP. A MM hunter could have very little skill and still finnish with the most damage and most kilsl in any BG. in instances/raids - Feign Death is your friend :) best type of bow to get for this is somethign thats VERY slow but deals a lot of damage

SV - Survival is a bit of a strange one! you need a hell of a lot of agility for this class to work well! - most of the skilled hunters you will find to be survival - they have high DPS and high survivability if played correctly - involves multiple trapping and nuking of targets. these hunters are amazing in instances/raids and equally as amazing in PvP - the hardest of clas types to master! its all about the trapping! again, Feign Death is your friend!, best combined with 2 very good melee wapons, or one big hefty polearm/axe (preferably with +agil enchants for that little bit extra!) and a fast shooting bow with scope +agil stats if possible! imo these hunters are most favorable in end game raids. they have fantastic CC with a lot of DPS, its like Tank, DPS rolled into one class! wooo!

as said by a few people, level on to around the 20-25 mark, wil ltake about 2-3 nights to do it, so its not really that demanding!
or if you want to make use of all your pretty level 70 skills, find a few mobs your level or a little lower, and jut practise with them!,

furthermore for instance practise you can try doing a few lower lvl instances, RAMPS/BF/UB ... they wont eat you aluive but they will be challenging...will also allow you to find out what kind of thing you want to do in instances! trapping etc... test out trying to do multiple traps using feign death, shot rotation, (theres a few good guides knocking about for this), kiting mobs (if you can manage to find a group to go, UBRS and Drakki was a good kite for hunters :)), aggro management (probably the hardest part) and pet management!

theres a few things for you to think about :) hehe

overall hunters are fantastic! :)
play it well ! id love the chance to have ym 70 hunter back :)

If you grind to 20 with a Hunter you should get a feel for the character and shouldn't take you too long; get practicing with jump shooting, aggro management etc.
