Wow - If I give up on a profession does the item de-equip?

Hi,

At the moment I am an enchanter and FSW Tailor (shadow priest).

Am currently using the FSW, Girdle Of Ruination and SPellstrike set. And also +12 spell damage on rings.

If I "Stopped" being a tailor, what happens? Do I lose the ability to wear the FSW Girdle or Spell strike? If I stopped enchanting can I no longer equip my rings, or does the +12 damage enchant disappear?

Thanks for any replies :)

You would only the ability to use the items if they required a certain skill in enchanting or tailoring to use them. For example Catseye goggles require a certain engineering skill to wear (separate from level requirements - 50, 60, etc). So if you lose the skills and they are not skill level bound you would keep them.

Unless its changed since May last year.

So the FSW stuff would literally just de-equip from my character?

And what about the Enchant skill on spell damage on rings?

Reason I ask is I want to take up herbalism or something to make money easier :P

No it wouldnt.

The way it works is pretty simple, never remove it and it stays on your body, remove it and you can never re equip it.

I'd hazard a guess at the enchant would still stay.

i would think they would stay equiped but you wouldnt get anything from the item, ie no spell damage or anything

Enchants stay no matter what.

Spellstrike is still equipable but you lose the set bonus.

FSW cannot be equipped if you drop tailoring.

As above. You can unlearn tailoring, but still use the Frozen Shadowweave set. You'll just lose the 3/3 "Shadow's Embrace" ability of the set.

Are you completely certain on that?

The set bonus means nothing to me really, (Actually, in theory since it is healing me, isn't that actually producing MORE threat - apart from if it is over healing of course).

Lastly, would I still be able to do gems and stuff? as in, put in replace gems or reenchant?

I Would prefer to give up tailoring over enchanting because I can at least use it to nuke green drops and grab dust to sell, where as with tailoring all I can really do is make the odd runic spell thread and hope it sells :/

I'm virtually sure of it, yes, but check with a GM/post on the forums first.

Yeah you will be able to resocket them, and I agree about dropping tailoring as it doesn't make much money - but I'll hold onto it because there's no way I'd grind to 375 again, and with the expansion coming out you just know there's going to be some amazing tailoring patterns.

You're horribly mistaken, you just cannot use the set at all. Read the tooltip
Frozen Shadoweave Boots
Binds when picked up
Feet Cloth
122 Armor
+15 Stamina
+9 Intellect
Yellow Socket
Blue Socket
Socket Bonus: +3 Spell Hit Rating
Durability 50 / 50
Requires Level 70
Requires Shadoweave Tailoring

You're getting confused with the set bonus on Spellstrike set:

The set gives these bonuses as more pieces are worn:
These bonuses only apply if the wearer has 350 Tailoring.
2: Gives a chance when your harmful spells land to increase the damage of your spells and effects by 92 for 10 sec.

I suggest you be more careful as you could have cost somebody a _very_ expensive mistake. Tailoring to 375 costs thousands of gold, and all it takes is one wrong person to screw that all up with misinformation.

I posted above and I am ABSOLUTLY positive.

If you drop tailoring the items stay equipped but all the stats wont count for nothing!!! It will STAY equipped but you loose ALL stats from it.

A warrior in my old guild dropped BS when he was an armorsmith and he lost all the benefits of his epic plate chest.
