Somehow I have managed to get my missus interested in having a go on WOW. (yeah I know, who's gonna feed us now?)
Anyway I've got a 10 day guest pass so thought about installing WOW on her laptop. Thing is, we've got a slowish 1mb connection here & it's gonna take ages to patch it up. Can I just copy across the patches in my WOW directory to her installation folder and patch it from there?

you can actually just copy the entire WoW folder in program files across and not even need to reinstall it

ill add a bit to that (as laptops can be low on space) if you go in the /wow/wtf folder you'll find all the saved settings for your addons. If she's playing without addons the folder can be cleared out. Was about 40MB on mine, not huge but its wasted space :)

The only downside with the above is come wrath i belive it does then need some indication it's installed - I might be wrong tho, dont remember what it was like for TBC.

yup, saves a lot of time when formatting, i just drag it to backup and the pull back after format. Dont have to redo my UI everytime then!
