WoW - Is It Deserted?

I've been away from WoW for a year now and thinking about going back. I had a lvl 38 alliance druid when I left so I hope it's still there! However, are the original WoW areas now deserted because BC has been released and everyone is now a Blood Elf? Also, can you change servers? I think my server was Turylon (or something liket that), If so, what servers do you recommmend?

Its certainly not deserted, I read its still the fastest growing MMO available, I play my level 40-50 alts sometimes and all the areas are still pretty busy. Obviously theres a lot a Blood Elfs and Draenei but you couldnt expect anything else really.
 
Thanks for that, I'd read somewhere that a lot of the places were deserted cos everyone had bought BC. I'll log back in after work tonight and kiss goodbye to my life again!!
 
I also came back recently after a year break and although it seemed a little quiet in places I don't think it's any different than before. Level 40 now and loving it much more than I ever did before - everything that made me quit is now improved.

You can use free realm transfer or transfer anywhere for £15 I think.

Was your character still there when you went back or did you have to start again?
 
Your character will still be there, I recently recovered my Warlock and Priest from my very first account which was last active on June 2005 :p
 
I played from release for 6 months then cancelled, i went back a few weeks ago and found my guy still there.

There is a big difference in population, i remember going through ashenvale and getting into alliance fights every 10 minutes, now i can run back and forth all day and barely come across people, personally i think its because of BC, but also because those who want to PvP use the battlegrounds, which were released just after i quit.

Enjoying it a lot more now though, i've read that a lot of the BC instances can be 5 manned in about an hour, which is the whole reason i quit was because the lvl 60 ones took longer than i could commit.

Only annoying this is i'm on a heavily populated server (warsong) and all of my alts are on vek'linash, i dont fancy paying £15 to transfer because thats silly money, £5 would have been much more reasonable.
 
im on quel'thelas if you want to play at somepoint. got a 68 priest (shadow) called monty, and a 60 warrior called lithilian. ill help you level if you need.
