WOW - Is it me or a Horde better at PvE?

Ok been playing wow from release with a couple of short breaks, most of this time I spent playing Alliance because of friends but every Alliance PvE guild I have been in since TBC seems to progress well to start (managed to get 4/5 t5 on my pally) then fall apart. Horde side on my server at least are way more consistent and have more guilds raiding endgame.

Maybe its time for a transfer.:(

Its because all the adults play Horde and all the l33t kiddies play Alliance.
That's about the truth about it, I've only played Alliance end game and very few guilds seem to be able to stick it out as they're dogged with drama, petty arguments etc.

Originally PvE was actually easier on Alliance due to the Paladin and racial talents.

If Conan isn't any good, I'll probably reroll Horde when the next expansion comes out and see how it goes.

Well there are a lot of "guild-killer" bosses in TBC... you can have a very easy ride through a lot of content only to hit a boss where you are faced with replacing a sizeable portion of your guild for more skilled / reliable players or fold, and 9/10 guilds pick fold.

There is also that phenomenon that a lot more casual players choose to play as alliance rather than horde (perhaps just to be the "good guys"), so you tend to have a more skilled base of players to recruit from if you're horde, doesn't give any garauntees, but certainly will give you a better chance of success.

Funny that even though the Alliance are suppost to be the 'good' guys, i always found horde to be much more friendly and helpful when asking questions about the game.

In PvP i only ever got repeatedly ganked playing horde never when playing alliance.

i think the old rule of thimb with alliane being kids and horde being more mature was a lot mroe true pre TBC, btu since horde got blood elves then theres been a huge number of more immature people on horde :p

Easy way to have an opinion:

Of the top 10 guilds in the world for WoW 7 of them are Horde, 8 are European only two alliance european guilds are in the top 10 and that is Method on the realm Sylvanas and Forte on Kazzak.

There's a logical reason for all of this.

When you're young, the desire to play a knight in shining armour is very strong, much stronger than the desire to play the bad guy. You want to be the guy who saves the day, the hero.

As you mature/age, you begin to see how one-dimensional good guys are. You see the bad guys as being more interesting, having a more compelling story, more 'layers'.

This is why immature/young people are attracted to Alliance, /specifically/ the Paladin. Of course, this is no hard and fast rule. There are lots of mature, skilled Pallies and Alliance out there. And lots of immature, silly Horde. But by and large, kids are attracted to Pallies and the Alliance.

It's a human nature sort of thing.

Damn.. I had a theory that Alliance was too "un-cool" for the kiddies :/

I came to this conclusion simply because everytime the kids are off school, the Horde team turns to rubbish in the BG's! Maybe just the realm i'm on (Xavius).

I guess If I decide to ditch my sexy pink dwarf I still have plenty of time pre expansion to gear up / get a guild. Just a shame that route will probably mean i miss out on seeing BT/MH

I gave up trying with Alliance, the levels of maturity are just plain terrible (no offence to anyone Alliance in here).

Levelling up a Shaman on Nagrand at the moment, level 32 so far. :)

Joined an "adults only" guild that seems to be full of really nice people.

I played Horde on Earthen Ring well over 2 years ago, its an RP realm so you would think it would have more mature players. I was in the Northrend Raiders from the start which was a great frendly guild till everything went 'pro' where all loot was closely guarded by the dragon point thingy. Just seems people stopped having fun and got far too serious.

The battle grounds were always won by Horde, i only remember being beaten by alliance once or twice.

I occasionally go back to Earthen Ring, but even Horde is full of idiot spam, i dont think RP exists there anymore.

Well at its very core, the squeeky clean image of the Alliance races do appeal a lot more to younger players. You have the token human race, with the knight-in-shining-armor image, plus the night elves and dwarves to bring a LOTR influence to begin with. There's also no doubt that gnomes have a childish stigma to them.
It's the complete opposite for the Horde, which have designs based off far more mature origins. Taurens are influenced off ancient Greek mythology, undeads are just a bunch of zombies, trolls and orcs are equally vicious and been in far more mature and violent tales to begin with. Orcs in most other tales typically have a backstory of rape, murder, pillaging and destruction.

That's the most logical view to take, pre-tbc, but now both sides have their polar opposite races - the blood elves are the 'normal' race in a mostly-savage faction, while the draenei are the strange, beast-like addition to alliance.

I have to admit, the first character I ever rolled (back in WoW beta) was a Human Paladin. :o

*goes into the back yard to shoot himself*

Hehe, you're not alone. I rolled a Human Pally in beta too.

/derail

One of the oddest sights I've ever saw online happened to my Pally during that beta. I was running through the newbie area (Goldshire? or something) and happened across an Inn. I went up staairs, just checking it out and went into one of the bedrooms.

There, on the bed, was two male humans stripped naked, bouncing up and down on the bed in front of each other.

They both turned to me as I entered the room and stopped jumping. One of them ran over to me and did the plead emote (the one where you kneel down and clasp your hands in front of you). The other started to cry and asked me to promise never to tell anyone what I saw.

I'm convinced that it was just a set-up, a joke. It had to be. But there is a nagging doubt somewhere inside of me that remains to this day, and screams "WTF".

never tried allie side, have 3 lvl70 hordes but quit the game a while a go, dont have the will power to lvl anything in wow again :D

Well out of boredom I have start to roll a Belf pally :( if nothing else it will kill the time between my guilds failing raids and going the pub.

I haven't played WOW much but in the time that I did I found the organisation and the general attitude of the Horde was far better than the Alliance.

My guild tends to favour Horde as well as they are mostly aged 18+ members.

This argument is still going?

I left WoW years ago, and even though I mainly played Alliance it was pretty much accepted that the the best, and more mature players all went Horde. Though admittedly spending levels 20-30 in The Barrens often had me doubting that piece of accepted wisdom. :D

Is it still that bad?
