hi guys,

just started to play wow and currently playing a mage,

i know there are a few wow players here on ocuk so any tips for a wow noob?

Nah! Stick with your Mage there great fun. I can't really comment on spec 'cos I stopped playing before the last expansion.

Back in the day I found it a lot easier to level full frost spec, it had better survivabilty and mob control.
 
I've got a level 67 frost mage. It's awesome :)

No idea what I'm doing though. I just use things when they become available to me. May have to get someone to look over my gear and tell me what I should be doing :p
 
Spec into frost on the talent tree - it's all about survivability and the water elemental at later levels is awesome. Gearwise, try and get as much stamina as you can, int and spellpower are your other key stats.
As Jase said, learn to kite. Frost Nova, blink away and continue to fire off frostbolts from distance. Try to avoid initiating a fight at anything apart from max range.
Check the official mage forums and WoW.com for levelling guides and tips on how to play. Avoid the rest of the forums like the plague though.
 
Ice Barrier, run into a crowd of mobs, Frost Nova, Blink, Blizzard, Cone of Cold - repeat. That's about all there is to being a mage ;).

Put your talent points into frost, things that increase damage/crit or decrease mana spent are the best to go for first. Practise killing multiple mobs once you've got blizzard and cone of cold, it makes grinding as a mage much less dull.
 
First off, Frost is a much better way to level.

You get good damage, good crowd control and survivability.

You want to aim for Ice Barrier as soon as you can.

I'd take tailoring, and probably enchanting or if you want to make money mining / skinning.

General advise, never buy anything from the Auction House, Try and sell things that you don't need, but always check to see how much they're selling for, and try and sell a little bit cheaper.

Can't think of much else, but I've done almost everything the game has to offer on a mage :)
 
Don't use a mage - but search on youtube "mage AOE grinding" for various videos - I think all of them spec frost.

Frost -> all other specs I believe for leveling.
 
<3 my mage, used to raid and level as fire but since WOTLK i've gone arcane and am slowing learning to love that aswell. With wow i would never sugest asking people "how to play" or "whats the best spec" just play around and do what suits youm everybody is different.
