Hi,

The main question I have is, how important is. Armor.

At the moment I have been putting +40 on my armor (I am a level 41 shadow priest) but want to swap a few of them to +7 stamina or + int or whatever.

Will I be like ZOMG! why am I dying!!!! or won't there be a massive difference?

Would you rather have say 40 extra armor or 30 extra HP for example?

Armor isn't really that important for a Shadow Priest. In most instance runs, you will rarely be taking any damage because hopefully the warrior will be.

And for soloing it shouldn't be an issue either.

If i was you I would go for more +int so you get more Mana, which is nice when grinding as you can do more damage over the same space of time.

Wouldn't bother with improving your crappy cloth armour tbh. 40 extra armour will make absolutely no difference, you are still going to be hamburger if a hard hitting mob gets its claws on you! +spi/+int etc will be of far greater value to you than armour.

Armour patches are a waste of space.

As a shadowpriest you want int\spirit\stam although I forget which you should prioritise the most. Put enchants on the items you can enchant, and armour patches on the ones you can't til other patches become available. Even if you rolled a meat shield class then armour patches still wouldn't be high on your list of priorities.

Are you on a pvp or pve server?

Armour ONLY affects physical damage, not magical. You can see the effect of it on your character screen (press 'c') to bring this up. When you change items the part where it shows the % damage reduced by armour will change. Basically while you're levelling the amount of character customisation you can do is limited so I wouldn't worry about it too much. A priest in shadow form already has very high physical damage mitigation for a cloth wearer, so maybe stamina, intelligence and (on the offchance you can find any at your level) +spelldamage. If you're on a pve server and have spirit tap, stack spirit.

I'd lose the blackout in your 1st 5 points and go for the Spirit Tap. Really helpful whilst grinding as your Mana regen goes through the roof.

Get the set or find similar sets as mentioned earlier.

Also take a look here : http://www.wow-loot.com/v1-priest.htm

Can tell you what drops, from where and if it's useful for you.

you dont want armour.

You want Int and Stam, and later when the gear gets better, you will want gear with "+*X* to Damage and Healing".

Spirit is not important for you to be honest. Dont avoid it but you get double spirit every time you kill something that gives XP as a shad priest.

"+ to Spell Hit" can be useful but all your spells are low cost and fast cast so you can just cast another if it fails. I'd be inclined to take "+ Spell Critical Strike rating" over +to Hit.

There is no "correct" way to gear your character, but some idea's are better than others :P

indeed as above - get spirit tap for *** reasons i mentioned up there^
Blackout is good for PVP but you can save it until later levels before you put it back in.

As others have said - stam/int/spirit are what you really want.

however....

If you cant get someone to enchant your items, hell, get the armour, better than nothing.... and they arnt that hard to make. But really, your shield and armour spell are much better than the patches, but its a shame not to use them if you have nothing better on them :)

Well,

My professions are Tailoring and Enchanting.

My enchanting is 140, and tailoring is 78 I think.

I guess I should start to do more work on that :(

What about Mana regen equipment? does like 3 mana or 5 mana over 5 seconds really do anything?

Again you're unlikely to find any mana regen kit at your level so I wouldn't be too concerned about it, it's another end game tweak that costs too much of an item's budget to bother with when levelling. I can't check out your talent build through the work firewall, but Spirit Tap is the BEST levelling talent you can have as a Priest of any spec. If you want to level with minimal downtime, get this talent, open with mind blast, sw: p, vampiric embrace, flay, flay and wand the mob for the rest. Your spirit regen should almost keep pace with your mana expenditure.

I have:

Black out 5/5
Imp SW:P 2/2 Shadow Focus 5/5
Mind blast 2/5 Improved Scream 2/2 Mind flay 1/1
Shadow Reach 2/2 Shadow weaving 1/5
Silence 1/1 Vampiritc embrace 1/1 improved 2/2 focused mind 2/3
Darkness 5/5
Shadow form 1/1

Someone correct if I'm wrong but later on in the game on long fights mana regen is better than +spirit as it still regens mana in combat whereas spirit only starts again properly 5 seconds after you cast a spell .

That right ?

Mana reg sounds really good desnt it....

but [you knew one was coming lol]

Think of it this way. your mind blast will take say 200mp. MR of say 3/5secs....

thats a huge 26mp a min meaning its going to take about 7 mins for you to get one free spell.. hmm....rather jsut downa pot or get a buff for int/spirit and get some +damage items on instead.

Until higher lvls, dont chase mp regen, it realyl isnt worth it, get a mage to make you some free water, much better.

Colin - imo

INT + Agil i think. at least mine went that way and seems to be ok with it. Might depend on the spec of the hunter too, mine is still BM.

what realm are you on?

Does black out proc a lot? I have spirit tap on my priest, it's like having dark pact :D
