I've been playing WOW for the last couple of days as an elf hunter, got quite into it, I’ll never have a lot of time to play it but a few hours ever other evening might be possible (yes I know all about the addiction - but I have a busy job, partner and children, so am looking for an hour or so of interaction and RP)

The 10 day trail thing has expired - so I’m looking for a recommendation for a server/realm to start from?

if you dont have a friend in a server, all the servers apart from the ones in cyclone battlegroup are the same (cyclone is the pvp base of euro wow)
on the other hand, i would be against starting wow, as it requires lots of time so you can enjoy it.

WoW can be enjoyed without playing 12hours a day, some people have self control.

Agree - getting to level 70 is easy even with only a few hours play time a week. Whatever server you join it should be fairly easy to meet people and find a guild that meets your needs.

dont agree with this, when i started playing again i found it extremely difficult to find people my own level, everyone seems to want to boost/rush lower level alts in their own guild etc, kinda means theres no1 to group with.. unless you're in a boosting group, which is NO fun at all. I wouldnt even bother playing wow, maybes try some demos of other things, theres a lot of other thigns better for quick blasts every other night than wow.
 
Me and a few mates have a similar playstyle/habbits to yourself and have decided to start a horde guild on Nagrand which is a PVE server as opposed to being a PVP server.

Very casual group of guys with no commitments, we haven't formed the guild yet we are just pottering along and earning cash to get started. If you interested in hooking up with us, drop me a line on here for /t Uziel ingame.
 
Padders, try joining the OcUK guild on Shattered Halls, Horde side. Bunch of people there who would be very helpful and willing to give you a hand.

WoW is whatever you want it to be. Nobody can tell you that you *need* to do 20 hours a day or you *wont* find groups. It's just as friendly to the casual gamer as it is to the hardcore, especiaslly with the easy levelling (can solo all the way to 70 without a problem) and the 5 man dungeons when you get there.

yeah join shattered halls. that way you can ask questions or get help from other ocuk guys when and if you need it. it will really help with enjoyment otherwise it can become a bit of a lonely existence :)

/shrug, not my experience of WoW - were you on a pvp server by any chance?

On my normal server there's always people levelling alts in the lowbie areas, and they still need help with the group quests (though I think Blizz got rid of a load of these - shame), so finding someone to do them with is usually easy enough. Can be quite tough finding someone to do the instances with though I accept.
 
If you do start playing - please don't solo all the way to 70 as said earlier in this thread. Yes, it's possible, but you're missing out on the fantastic instances and group questing. Put a couple of hours aside on a Saturday afternoon to do instances, they're brilliant. :)
 
If like me your time is limited, use Jame's levelling guide (google it) for fast progression with minimum fuss. Match it with the wowhead addon and progression is quick. You do want to take a breather every now and then, play some instances or battlegrounds (especially for the break fear trinket) but generally solo is quite fun.
 
I quite like Joanas leveling guide. Used it twice for both of my 70's and I higly recommend it if you want to go to 70 as fast as possible.
