I just put 2x120mm Noctuas in my case (front sucker and rear blower) to quieten my rig down a little, as the standard fans that came with the case were quite noisy.

I've had a pleasant surprise in that my idle CPU core temps are down from 40*C to 34*C :D Nice! Doesn't seem to have shaved any off the GPU temp but nevermind :)

Consider these recommended!

at the price you pay for them, they should be lol.
probably had some really poor fans before as although noctuas are indeed excellent in terms of silence and performance per noise, they don't really push that much air tho.

Do you know how many CFMs your stock case fans were rated for?

TBH I wouldn't have thought such a huge difference would be possible as even though Noctua is a premium brand, they're more about the best trade-off between silence and airflow. Glad to hear it though, I use Noctuas in my server case and CPU cooler. Might replace my gaming case's Antec Tri-Cools for the summer after hearing this!

Not sure but the old fans were gunked up and pretty horrid anyway. Perhaps I moved some cables or something which might have made more of a difference than the fan.

I really want to change the fan on the AF7 Pro HSF but I can't be bothered to pull the mobo out of the case to get at the locking pins comfortably :( If I'm going to do that I'd rather it was for a CPU upgrade :(

I have a Lian Li case which is horrible for conducting noise and resonance anyway... that's going out the window come payday methinks :p

It could just be some strange combinations of fan RPM/CFM and your case. Maybe the noctuas just happened to work together to create some unusual airflow which happened to pass right through your CPU heatsink?

You never know :)
