WOW or Guild Wars?

if you have real life friends and want to see them again -> guildwars.
if you dont have friends but want to make online friends -> wow.

guildwars is infinitely better than wow.

I've got a question about guildwars, I know there are different armour/weapon set, but do they all look the same? I've been in varoius places but everyone always seems to be wearing 1 or 2 different armour sets

Ok, here's how it works. At first everyone has similar sets of armor as there is only 1/2 sets for each profession, each getting gradually better until you get 'max' armor.

Max armor costs around 1.5k per piece and requires a large amount of cheap materials to make, it will look the same as everyone else who has standard max armor.

Then there is elite armor, this is exactly the same as standard max armor in terms of defense but costs 15k per piece, there are around 7 different types of elite armor for each class and they require different types of expensive crafting material to make. On some armor, for example Fissure of Woe elite armor it will cost around 1million K to collect all the materials required.

Basically the better armor looks, the more expensive it will be, but it will be exactly the same statistically as cheap armor. This allows people who can't be bothered with the grind to get 'perfect' armor.

[EDIT] I have two sets of the cheaper elite armor, the two together have set me back about 300k, but the cheapest perfect armor can be bought for as little as 50k (including the cost of materials)

[EDIT2] Armor can also be dyed, the 'cooler' the dye, the more expensive it'll be, for example black dye costs approx 10k per piece of armor, but brown dye will cost 100G

I like guildwars and sometimes play it.
I used to play WoW and I would say WoW felt more like a proper MMO as you can be questing and see people, but on guildwars it's you and your group and that's it (unless you're in a city) :(

I'm bored of both now :( (but sometimes return to guildwars)

I really liked WoW, but it took up way too much of my time and was costing me money to play.
I moved onto GuildWars as there is no monthly fee, it is an amazing game and the graphics are a lot better than WoW.

What I found tho is that GuildWars is the type of game where you can play every now and again and it is fun. But with WoW I found I would be playing for hours and hours just to do a certain quest or to get a certain item. I even found myself grinding to level up :( this was when I realised it was getting boring and decided to stop playing.
The time it takes to get from one place to another on WoW really gets boring :( with guildwars at least you can go from place to place pretty quickly :)

I've heard WoW is a lot better now and a lot easier to level, but I wouldn't go back to it as I found it was too time consuming and too expensive :(

I mainly play FPS games tho :) so really like the idea of playing a game on and off, which is another reason why I like GuildWars. I guess it depends on what you want from the game.

I agree with this :)

i've never played guild wars, but i did play wow until last week when i sold my 2 lvl 70 characters, i think wow is a good game but once you level up i found it was taking to much of my time, it's not really the sort of game were you can just go on for a few mins.

you can play wow and dont have to be online 24/7.. when i first played wow it did took most of my time. but its all up to how you manage your time. if i cant join raids then **** the guild. now i just do pvp which i prefer and enjoy more.
