I've decided to play WoW using a paladin.
I've played WoW for a few weeks to get the hang of the basics, so would now like to progress my paladin - currently lvl 11

I currently have skinning, fishing and cooking as pros - are these ok?
What others should i spec.
Any tips, hints etc very welcome.

Cheers

Go with mining and Jewelcraft (or possibly a close second IMO would be blacksmith).

All levelingg guides for pala/ and proffesions can be found so easily by google searches, its better to take a look at 2-3 and find a layout that suits you IMO.

Edit*
btw I leveled mine pre-TBC as protection, then in TBC as retri - finaly back to protection in WOTLK.
There are pro's and cons to both, but you can efefctively level in anything but holy.

A note, jewel crafting is being REALLY toned down in the next major patch, with jewels no longer acting as prismatic.

In other words, placing a Strength gem for example in a blue socket (the JEWEL crafters own gems, so for example the +27 Strength ones) will no LONGER act like you are putting in a blue gem, an no longer count towards the meta or give the socket bonus on the item.

most the gem bonuses are crap anyway? people always used to just ram AP gems etc in the sockets and not bother with the bonus for using the correct gem colours

I'm a paladin in a high end raiding guild, JC is good, but like mentioned its being toned down a lot.

You will find Mining and Blacksmithing great to get you boosted in regards to gear, whether you choose holy, prot or retri. Also at 80 your blacksmithing will allow you to add an extra socket to your bracers, belt and gloves which is extremely nice.

The best way to level is as retribution, its fast, easy and normally a lot of fun.

If you get to using Gems, there are 2 gems for retri you should always and only use, +16 hit until your hit capped and +16 str, use them in every colour slot and ignore the bonuses.

If going for holy, i only ever use +16 int in my sockets and 2 other colours to match the meta socket in my head.

You can level as holy, but its only worth it if you have very good holy gear, otherwise the only dps you'll be putting out is holy shock, shield of righteousness and auto swing.

It depends on what build you are going for, if you are going for dps/retri then strength is more use than stamina.

cheers guys.

Only thing i currently don't like about my phaladin is lack of gold and bag slots.
i need to find a sugar daddy. :)

Is there anyway to get money from a player in another realm?

No. Unless you pay £15 to move your character. You should get money by doing quests pretty quickly, then straight to the AH to buy bags?

Would suggest putting a TV next to your monitor as levelling (hell playing full stop) as ret is so mind numbingly easy and boring you WILL need somthing else to do whilst playing.
They are a poweful class indeed but require about as much skill to play as ... Well spamming 2 buttons over and over ....and over and over and over. same goes for holy and would imagine prot isnt entirely taxing given how all other tank classes have been dumbed down to be bought inline with pally aoe "tanking".
Wow i've just realised paladins are reaponsible for single handedly destroying the world.....of warcraft.
And also that I'm a palaphobe.

Go Ret and roll your face over the keyboard, works for most. :)

Gonna be feasting on sweet, sweet Paladin tears when they get the nerf they deserve soon enough.

and no I don't get owned by Paladins, but they do ridiculous burst in PvP and I can fully understand why people complain about Ret in its current state. It's stupid.

If your haveing gold problems, I'd recommend picking up 2 gathering profs for your 1st character.
Mine was a miner/herb, even low level stuff like copper can sell really well.

Later on you can change the professions around if you want to.

Hey well my main char in wow is lvl 80 prot paladin http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Eonar&n=Zethrim and it just rocks :P

I leveled up from about lvl 30 as protection and just loved being able to do any quest solo and always in demand for any raid or dungeon is just epic and saves having to wait ages for a group. Also as prot you can easily take on 5 mobs at a time that are your level so AOE killing mobs for quest e.g "get me 20 murloc heads" is fast and easy to get EXP quick too :P

But anyway thats what i like to play protection coz i love to tank - maybe tanking is not for you but give it a try, for me i love it :D .

Professions i have are JC and Mining and well i make tons of gold easy but you have to know what to do ;) . however leveling up JC is not cheap i think i spent about 3k gold to level it up from 1-450 in one day but well i can make around 1k gold after an hours farm and an hour to sort out stuff and get it on the AH.

ok then - mining and JC it is :)

armour wise, what stats are best suited for me? stamina, agility etc..

If it was *ME* i would probably go Blacksmith and Mining now, or even enchanting. The difference that made JC so much better than those before was that you could socket any of the Prismatics in to any socket and still get the bonus, which made it insane.

I really wish I had not leveled it on my warlock now, and instead wished I had gone with Enchanting again along with whatever else.

*EDIT*

Forgot to mention, black smiths get 2 extra slots, which *ARE* prismatic, so you can put anything in them, plus with the epic quality gems starting to be available (and will be standard in ice crown) BS will be even with JC, maybe slightly better.

Enchanting is insane though, sharding gear / getting dusts from quest rewards can be a nice money earner.

Dont play wow anymore but when I did I wrote this, someof it might be wrong (Names of abilities ect) but you get the just.

Palladin Play Guide.

Palladin - Protection - Engineering.

When I first started to play a Palladin (It was my first ever character) I went with a 2h weapon because of the higher dps but I was soon put off because of the lack of protection offered by a shield, so I respeced him for Protection with 1h + shield and to this day it's what I prefer.

So why is 1h + shield so good? Well in a nutshell its simply the added armour you gain from your shield and the the added benefit form stats, add a decent enchant (Greater Stamina) and you have an item which is indespencible. As for the 1h weapon, again its the added stats and its attack speed. Attack speed is so important yet most people overlook it, you should be aiming for a weapon with a speed of no more than 1.8.

WHY IS WEAPON SPEED SO IMPORTANT?

The reason I feel attack speed is so important is twofold, the first is that some enchants like Crusader and such are "CHANCE ON HIT". As you can see, the more often you hit something the more chance you have of triggering the bonus of that expensive enchant on your weapon. The second reason for a fast weapon (wich is described below) is actualy the most important and is probably what makes a palladin the ultimate Tank.

At level 30 the Palladin has access to its best ability, Seal of Light. Seal of Light when dropped onto an enemy gives the attacker (the palladin or anyone else attacking) a chance of regaining Hit Points, what you should realise is that this happens more often than not

LEVEL 1 - 29:

LEVEL 30+:

ONE TRICK PALLADIN:
As of level 30 A Palladin probably becomes one of the easiest and fastest classes to play and level due to [SEAL OF LIGHT]. This power will change the way you play a Palladin solo for the rest of the game and it can even make a huge difference in group play.

ONE TRICK PALLADIN - SOLO PLAY:
When questing or grinding solo the first thing you should do to any enemy you come accross is to drop [JUDGMENT OF LIGHT] onto it. With [JUDGEMENT OF LIGHT] now in place, every time you strike your enemy you have a change of regaining some of your lost Hit Points, the need for a fast weapon should now be self explanitory.

Not bottoming out on mana in fights is a huge bonus and very important when fighting in crowded areas as there is always the possibility of the unavoidable mass mob bash. This is where your [JUDGMENT OF LIGHT] will save you where anything else would mean certain death.

If you have just come out of a fight using [JUGMENT OF LIGHT] and you accidentily or unavoidable agro a group of mobs, you should be in a good position to survive this as your health and mana should be at max. Instantly drop you [JUDGMENT OF LIGHT] onto a mob and start attacking it, use your [CONSECRATE] to start damaging surrounding mobs, once the mob dies that you are hitting drop another [JUDGMENT OF LIGHT] onto another mob and repeat the process untill all are dead only using your bubble at the very last minute and healing with bandages (Dont use spells as they deplete precious mana), depending of course on level and type of mobs but you sould be safe with 3 - 4 mobs of same lvl, probably 2 - 3 of +1 lvl and 2 of +2 - +3 lvl, you dont realy want to be taking chances with +4 lvl mobs but they are takeable singurlarly, Even some elites of +3 lvls are takeable.

Just place your head on your keyboard and roll it back and forth a bit and you'll be Lvl 80 in no time.

but they do ridiculous burst in PvP and I can fully understand why people complain about Ret in its current state. It's stupid.

That drives me up the wall, they just whack on Hand of Freedom, and wander over to you, stun then OMGWTFBOOMHEADSHOT in your face. It makes me a sad panda. :( Having high armour, ability to self heal and insane burst damage is silly.

Still, I'm happy enough to play alongside them, they're a solid class, I just can't play them as I find I feel a bit un-involved if that makes sense?

Some of the people in here are pathetic. Saying a paladin requires no skill, when in fact the game itself requires no skill. Coming from a level 80 Paladin and Shaman.

I levelled my paladin as retribution until level 75, and then went holy. I still find it boring though, my shaman is loads of fun though. But, don't listen to all the people whining about paladins, if you enjoy it, you play it. And also, if your short on cash, maybe go for 2 gathering professions like Mining + Skinning.
