Woke up this morning to find a 323mb patch is downloading for WoW. I find this very weird seeing that Blizz usually do their updates and patching on Wednesdays. Checked their site but am none the wiser. Can't find any info on a patch that's supposed to be coming out today.

And yes, everything WAS up to date. I pretty much play everyday for an hour or so.

Anyone else getting it?

um, this is normal. For large patches ( e.g. .1 versions not .01) the patch will start to download up to a month before it actually comes out. For really big patches this can be longer and be downloaded in multiple stages.
You can change the settings for this by clicking 'options' from the wow launcher.

Yes make sure you change the download options in the WoW launcher because I'm pretty sure by default it downloads the patch WHILST you are playing. Stupid Blizzard.

How is it stupid? The amount of bandwidth required for WoW is minimal and it’s assumed only a small percentage of people will be running background bandwidth intensive processes whilst playing the game, so why not make use of the bandwidth you’re not using whilst playing the game to decrease the time you need to spend downloading it when it comes out? It’s extremely practical especially considering its a load-balanced download so any request for bandwidth from another application will get priority.

Apart from the fact that its p2p based and sucks up all your upload bandwidth and makes thegame lag like hell. Its impossible to play while the downloader is running. From my experiances the load balancing just doesnt work and it decides to take up all your upload BW. If you start it up while playing the game the latancy just keeps creaping up till its well over 2k, this is on a 2MB dsl conection that has normal pings of 75 to wow. Turning the options to control bandwidth and turning p2p on and off mades no difference at all.

I didnt even notice it was running, uses such a small amount of bandwidth, about 10% of my up speed and 1% of down..

Because it causes lag. Blizzard say it won't cause lag, well that's a load of bull. And especially since I'm a PvP'er even the slightest bit of lag makes a huge difference.
