hi
my friend wants a base unit that will play wow@720p minimum . im not familiar with wow apart from i think it needs a lot of ram ( 4gig ). he doesnt want to spend more than £300 ish . is this possible and if it is please spec me

thanks for your time

As 95thrifles mentions, £300 really isn't a lot for a PC that will play games (ie has a graphics card and PSU powerful enough to cope).

May I ask if there is any leeway in the budget?

Also, will he just be needing the box (and Windows 7 presumably) or will he need peripherals like monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers etc included within the budget?

If he is happy to go to 400, well a shade under, then could get this which would run wow well

MSI ATI Radeon HD 5750 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £82.24
AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 630 2.80GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £75.19
Coolermaster Elite 430 Windowed Case - Black (with 500w Elite Power PSU) £62.99
Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX4GX3M2A1600C9) £58.74
Asus M4A78LT-M 760G (Socket AM3) DDR3 Motherboard £48.99
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB SATA-II 16MB Cache - OEM (ST3500418AS) £29.99
LiteOn IHAS124 - DVD±RW (±R DL) / DVD-RAM drive - Serial ATA £12.91
Total : £371.04

Could save 30 quid on cpu and just get a dual core athlon which would bring it back down to nearer 300, could drop gpu a bit but anything with any significant saving is much worse tbh, could save a little on case/psu by getting OcUK own stuff but not worth the risk imo

The above is what Id recomend anyway

Edit: In fact having checked wow it only uses upto 3 cores (link), so the ideal would be an athlon x3, though thats only a fiver less than the x4
