Hi.
I've decided to have another go at WoW after a rest from it for about a year.
I've been on and off the thing since release, but still only level 35 since I've been a very casual player & my time is limited.

I'm wondering about these plug-in thingies though.
What do they do? And do I need them?

Which ones would you recommend?

Cheers.

You don't need them at all. Basically they change the interface, to make things easier usually, or do nifty little tricks.

If you're going to get any, a reputable site, such as curse.com is necessary (avoid those keyloggers!). For aesthetic purposes, there are some nice simple UI modifiers.

As a casual player, that's about the extent of it. Raiders have addons that show all various things to do with all their party members, threatmeters, boss warnings, and so on.

Basically, if you're only a casual player, there's no need for any of them.

You may not need them, but they make things a hell of a lot easier and better looking.
Try downloading questhelper, cartographer and monkeyquest. Just scout around curse.com and see what takes your fancy. I highly recommend you download the curse addon client, makes it all a lot easier.

I would recommend against the curse client, and stick with the wowaceupdater

Stick to WowAce installs, and then you can auto update every mod you have.

As those above me have said it makes this nicer to look at, makes functionality better and makes things easier to do. I am a bit of a mod freak and can't really do without them.

Here is what you can do with them:

They aren't X-Perl. Look at my screenshot, they are X-Perl. I am almost certain they are ag_unitframes because that is what I was using before.

Baggins is the bag mod. Pitbull for the unitframes/portraits. Bartender for bars/action buttons. Prat for chatlog.

I think Questhelper is one of the best add-ons you can get, makes questing more fun and more quicker. Also I recomend you get autoprofitx it basicly sells all the grays to a vendor with one click of a mouse. You can also set it to sell or not to sell a particular item.
