WOW Problem :(

I had a buggered xp install which would BSOD randomly on ANY 3d game. No matter how much troubleshooting, removing and reinstalling drivers I did, and other stuff, it wouldn't go away. In the end I just installed Vista x64 and kept xp as dualboot but I haven't booted into it for over a year. Was fine ever since.

On a lighter note:
It's your pc telling you to stop playing WoW, listen to it and:
Open your front door and walk around outside... the graphics are great!
:D

If only it were that simple. I actually didn't just reinstall Xp, but am now running 7 64bit as well. :)

My PC may be telling what to do, but I am still of the opinion it should be the other way round! :)

Superprime
tests your CPU
but you need to check your volages in the bios/another PSU.
and make sure you've got all the right power plugs in.

i had a similar problem when i played WoW...

Freezing now and then, load times slightly longer than others. Opening the Map in a city and turning fast would lock the game up for a good few seconds.

Turns out my harddrive was failing so I moved the WoW folder on to another harddrive ran the file check and its ran perfectly since.

Trox, I thought the same thing, which is why I copied it to another hard drive to test. Same result. :(

VeNT, I tried Prime95, is that not enough?

As for voltage, can I not use CPU-Z to tell me?

According to CPU-Z, my current Core voltage is 1.120v. That is right for a Q8200, isn't it?

I agree that a PSU test is in order. Will have to see if I can aquire one to test with.

Thanks both of you.

Ok, I am a little embarrassed now. :o

All my voltages are within range, just for the record. :)

Basically, what I did was remove my graphics card and re-seat it along with removing the power connectors and doing the same.

Day and a half later and WOW seems to be playing properly.

Well, I did take my card out to change cases, so I guess it didn't go back in correctly.

What was confusing me is that everything else, including 3dmark, was having no problems.

Fingers crossed that the problem is solved now.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for their help and especially you VeNT for sticking with it.

hehe seating things properly is the hardest thing in building
have to make sure they are all in properly!
had the same issues with ram before now!
