When you setup an account for WoW does tha ccount let you play on any of the games or do you need a seperate account for each expansion?

All the content is there to look at, the expansion kind of "unlocks" the other things for you to go and see. The old word content from the original and previous expansions is still there.

One account does the lot then :).

You upgrade an account to be TBC (and soon to WotLK) compatible.

There is no separate game, you just cannot enter expansion territory on vanilla accounts.

Platypus basically hit the nail on the head.

If you try to make a Blood Elf for example, it will tell you that you don't have the Burning Crusade, if you try to go to an area that you don't have access to (for example try to step through the Dark Portal from Blasted Lands to go to Hellfire) then it will basically tell you:

"you must meet the level requirements and have The Burning Crusade installed".

You pay for each expansion, and install it, but the recurring monthly fees are the same each month.

If you know someone with WOW though, and you are just setting up your account, beg them to do recruit a friend. You level almost 3 times quicker, and can grant them levels too. I haven't used it, but those that have said it is better than sliced bread.

Well you have to level with them and they have to be within 3 levels of you to recieve the full 3x bonus.
Other than that with some boosting its a day 1-60

I notice you use the word beg. Does that mean they may have a reason to not do a friend recruit?

And how do you do a freind recruit?

No, I was just using a play on words. They will want to do it, because you can grant them levels up.

As for how, I am not sure exactly. I believe that under the wow account management is how you do it, but I didn't look in to it much because all my friends that are interested are already playing :)
