WoW: Roleplaying servers?

Anyone play on one of these? I'm thinking of transferring my toon to one for WotLK since my current server has become a bit stale recently. I've never done any roleplaying before but wouldn't mind giving it a go. I know the official RP server rules say you have to talk in character all the time in certain channels, but since this is WoW I'm guessing that people generally don't? I have this stereotypical image of a RPer as being someone who gets very angry with real world references in talk or in people's names - please tell me RP servers aren't full of these characters?

my understanding is there isn't actually much role playing going on, even on role playing servers.

While I appreciate you're asking for a more personalised response, you could try creating a level 1 character on an RP server, run it to the nearest capital city and see what's going on there. If you like the atmosphere, transfer over.

My mate has a 70 on an RPPvP server and he says that hardly anyone bothers to RP.

I play on Argent Dawn RP realm, The RP community is very active there if you are into it. If not, Raiding is also going quite well, I am in the top raid guild on the alliance side and we have just about killed Muru now. I RP occasionaly and I never have a problem finding it and theres loads of RP guilds around which you would no doubt get invited to sooner or later, Horde side population is a lot lower than alliance but from what I know they like thier RP just as much as the alliance do

I'm on deathwing(deadwing) and or argent dawn side of lux mundi say AD is good for raiding. From what I've saw there is some RP on argent dawn but generally it just means that the people on the server a bit more mature,it's also a pve server so no ganking going on.
