Hi there,

My daughter wants a new PC to play WoW on, she has a budget of £300.

Her old PC is a EI System 5025 which is pretty low spec, 256mb ram, 2.53Ghz P4 processor and a radeon R96A which is a 128MB graphics card.

So two choices, either upgrade the old one if it's worth it, or buy a complete system (pre-built or parts, not bothered.)

Thanks in advance.

Hi Prestonian.

I don't think it would be worth upgrading, you are looking at a full overhaul unfortunately.

The good news with an AMD APU Trinity set up you should come in very close to your budget.

The question is, what do you need?

Do you need any of the following in addition to the hardware itself? - Monitor/Mouse/Keyboard/Case/Operating system. Any of those items will cut into the budget.

Just operating system unless there's free ones out there that can play the game?

Can you run games using Linux?

I've got a W7 disc but the key is registered to my PC. I suppose you're limited to one key per PC as opposed to one key per household?

What OS does your daughters PC currently have? Could you not reuse the key from there? Just an idea :)

It's got Windows 7, but has a sticker for XP Home, so I don't know. My brother gave her it after her old old one bit the dust.

By the way, I'm sorry to waste everyones' time, but I think we can raise the bar slightly on the budget if it's going to noticeably improve performance.

Her main game is WoW but I know she'd like to play DayZ. Is that achievable if we add £80-£100 to the budget?
