Is this email i got a phishing/scam as i dont have a WoW account or is someone using my card details to play it?

Dear World of Warcraft player,

You are receiving this email because you currently use a Maestro debit card issued by a UK bank to pay a recurring subscription to World of Warcraft.

Due to a change in the way some UK banks handle online payments, your Maestro debit card can no longer be used to automatically renew your subscription to World of Warcraft. As a result, at the end of your current billing period, you will need to actively purchase game time to continue playing.

From today, when using a Maestro card for any online payment, you will be required to enter additional security information. Because this system requests authentication for every purchase, it does not currently support recurring payments.

You can still use your Maestro card to pay for World of Warcraft game time (and other services), however you will need to do so after each game time period expires - you won't be able to do it while your game time is still active. You can find out more about payment methods, and change your preferred option, by logging in to Battle.net Account Management at http://eu.battle.net

Both World of Warcraft subscriptions and WoW Remote subscriptions are affected by this change.

It's definately not one of the common scam mails. Easiest way to find if its legit is really to just check your bank/card statements for anything from blizzard.

eu.battle.net is the proper url for Battlenet, so it doesn't seem like a scam...
Did you previously play WoW, and passed your account on to someone else, who hasn't changed the email address attached to it ?

Check the properties of the hyperlink in the email and see if it really is pointing to eu.battle.net. If it's not then it's a scam email.

Well the details all seem legit, all I can say if you certain you never gave them any card details then just ignore it since only repercussion of this is that you won't be able to play on your WoW account on which you don't play in the first place heh.

Look on your bank details for Blizzard S****horp (i think that is it off the top of my head)

EDIT.... lol, I know S c u n t h o r p is bad but masking it with **** is an insult haha

It is an official e-mail, anyone that even had eve logged a maestro card into the DB gets this e-mail.

I got it this morning and I haven't used a maestro card to pay for WoW in over 9 months, it's just an automated e-mail.

If you don't play WoW anymore you can completely ignore this.

All my legit emails have had "Dear Oliver" on them.. not Dear world of warcraft player... or Dear customer...

Odd that this one hasn't got your name on.

Also i havn't had a [email protected] one in a while. When i started my subscription (last week) it was [email protected] . I've had about 10 [email protected] ones and every one of them is a scam.. either i've been banned for hacking or i've been hacked or some crap like that. And all the links lead me to some 'dodgey' website.

OP. As you have checked your bank statements and nothing has shown up..

Ignore it..

If you do decide to investigate it.. like with any email from ANY company organisation that may have your CC or personal details. Go to the originators website DIRECT FROM YOUR BROWSER, as in manually type in the address.
Never ever click on an email link even if your 100% sure its good, its will save you a massive amount of trouble in the long run.

Email scammers will get more and more clever, links will be disguised more cleverly or just a single lapse in concentration, an itchy mouse button finger....its just not worth the risk.
