Amazing guys, 2 billion points

And the top 3 guys put in more than 50% of that, Biffa 25% on his own!

Well done all

I actually switched off CPU Folding on both my rigs a few days ago with very little drop in total PPD. I was having a few issues with the 3770K. I was getting occasional errors which would stop the core and wouldn't restart until I cancelled the error message. As I'm away at work, I couldn't do anything to try to stabilise the overclock so I just shut down the CPU client. The GPU clients actually improved their PPD as a result and took up most of the slack. I tried the same with the SR-2 and the same happened. With both rigs only running GPU clients (3 each), my PPD has only dropped from about 460k to 450k. I think I'll just be leaving it like that to be honest - it's only a 2% drop and puts a lot less strain on the CPU.

Interestingly, with only GPU clients running, my CPU usage on the 3770K is at 50% with each client using ~16.5% CPU. On the SR-2 the total CPU usage is 19% with each client using ~6%. Both running 3x 8900 WUs. On both machines, usage appears to be confined to one thread per core. When I get home, I may well switch off hyper-threading as it appears to be largely redundant for GPU-only Folding.

I even stopped overclocking my cpu's on my gpu rigs  Shave quite a few Watts off my power usage :)

Regarding the cpu usage for gpu folding, ironically AMD has almost zero cpu usage. Talk about turning the tables. Yes ultimately a 780 or Titan will stomp on a 7970 but 110K is nothing to sniff at considering the cost of the hardware and low cpu usage.

I'll probably switch the SR-2 back to stock but I'll be keeping the gaming rig overclocked.

Funny how things change. For as long as I can remember, AMD were the CPU hungry ones now, all of a sudden with these new beta WUs, it's the other way round. If I was building a GPU Folding rig from scratch now, I'd be looking at 7970s.
