lapping is a must if you want bleeding edge tech i think heres a could poff picks off my dads I7 and ek supreme

I left the EK block slightly rough as 2 perfect surfaces wont leave and space for the tim to bond

What is VID clone ? I can see your is 1.3260 VID clone ! Does the lower VID mean a cherry chip ?

Mine is 1.3611 VID (pretty higher VID than your)

that's for 4.0GHz (40x100) all the rest on Auto plus vcore on Auto too. Is it good or bad chip ?

When I bought my original Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme it was very concave, ended up having to lap it. Around a year later bought a True 120 Black and that was totally flat!

Just bought a Silver Arrow yesterday, will check to see if it's concave - can't be doing with lapping another. :rolleyes:

Ok stuff done, TBH only dropped a degree or 2

so I started looking around and found out about LLC - is this pushing the temps up ?

So I Set LLC 0% and WOW V DROOP !!, 1.46 in bios, 1.402 in CPUZ dropping to 1.349v under prime 95 load at 4023mhz, saying that so far its not produced an error, 49c load as well at moment at these settings. I'll leave it an hour if it doesn't error then run LYNX for an hour see if that causes errors and up the voltage slightly until its stable, going for the lowest possible volts stable now, temps will be interesting under LYNX.

EDIT:

Ha jus restarted no blue screen just restarted, put 50% llc on now 1.409v load now

EDIT 2: Got rid of prime and just running LYNX now, got it 1.456v set in bios, LLC 50%, LYNX been running 7 mins, voltage in CPUZ reads 1.409v occasionally dipping to 1.396v, load temps are now 60c load by this time in LYNX using old settings it was 71c load.

Settings are 4023mhz core speed
Bus speed 298
HT 2086mhz
ND Frequency 2980mhz

1.4v on dot now LYNX is still running at 28 mins cpu now 64c, NB 45c, SB 35c.

One thing is I really hate that thermalright fan clips (it awful and difficult to fit the middle fan exspecially the fan clips in the middle) 2 out of 10 for fan clips!
