Pretty old, TBH.

They're all cheating with 'time-lapse' emulator software...

I suppose creating something like that is impressive in it's own right, however.
Time lapse? what on earth are you on about.

think he means frameskip whereby the game runs 2x/3x/4x etc as fast as it would normally. however that means a single keypress left turns into 4 steps left.

that's not how it was recorded. that video was recorded piece by piece so every jump appeared perfect. It was anything but.

I think its pretty obvious from the video and anyone who's ever seen mario 3 that it's running at real speed.

It amazes me how people find the glitches like in that SM64 video. The SMB3 video was created in a n emulator and the key inputs were simulated and tweaked until they got all perfect jumps. MK64 one clearly shows a few errors and no emulator runs it smoothly. The SM64 one is FAR more impressive.

Ok, maybe I should have been more succinct.

Using an emulator tool, you can control how fast a game runs. For instance, the guy who made this video admitted that he'd slowed the game down to the point where he could play it on a frame by frame basis (with the help of mucho savestating I'd imagine).
