it does show the correct amount in logs. 4800xp is the total you've got, its simply letting you know that it includes an extra 2400xp.
Though the example is wrong, what it would say is 3600xp (+2400xp Refer a friend bonus) meaning the original quest is worth 1200xp , this at triple XP becomes 3600xp , its letting you know what the bonus is basically. Quests aren't worth 3600xp at a low level
hit 50 last night after a couple days played trip boxing a few accounts. only planning to play for a month(if that) just want to see the majority of the game and with 3 characters theres few instances you can't do a few levels above needed and nothing non instanced I can't do so far.
with multiboxing you REALLY need to get the macro's done right to have them all do the right thing when you want but its freaking awesome. I'm actually, more than anything, enjoying the challenge of getting that working as efficiently and well as possible. Making alternative spell sequences so you get all the debuffs possible on a mob aswell as high damage. Speccing alts ever so slightly differently in talents so the debuff's assigned to it are working as well as possible. Your "leader" will take most of the aggro due to the damage delay so more survivability talents and more dps talents on alts.
check out a few sites for help with the macro's. So far the focus setup works best for me, IE when you make agroup have your alts target your main and set it as focus, won't break till you log basically and gives you so many options.

both have invaluable info on the subject.
The only downside is I'm really missing out on a lot of quests, finding myself spending to long doing quests I didn't know were long chains and useless rewards, and finding myself not really knowing where to go next.
As a new player to most of the area's(only got to the mid 30's on one alt years ago) and not getting all the referal quests because I'm not doing all the quests, I don't know where is level appropriate at the moment. I imagine its much better playing alongside a friend whose played for a while and knows what quests to do, what not to do and where to go at what level. Still enjoying it loads though.
I have to say of the 2 days playtime i've put in maybe, a good 4-6 hours was spending ages setting up first macro's, and changing things later in the game as abilities and talents change.
