WoW Triple XP Incentive

I boosted my lvl 17 toons through Shadowfang keep last night

i did 3 quests and 2 SFK runs (one of the quests was for the head of arugal 9950 XP !!!!!)

and that got both toons to 21

even with my 70 in the group tghey were still getting 150XP.

ive found its much quicker jsut to level from the quest hand in XP.

so i run round killing everything fast with my 70 with them on follow.

Im doing this because my 2 main 70s have no gathering skills and i want chars with gathering skills for WOTLK

after playing the beta i will need some gatherers lol

It really is quite insane, one of the lads has actually quit cos he was so ****** off how fast me and another mate are leveling.

Got about a day played time now and I'm level 48 on my Blood Elf Paladin, started on Friday.

I find it a lot more enjoyable with the triple xp plus being linked to my friend (even if he does get me killed all the time due to bad selection of characters by us (him rogue, me priest).

Im enjoying the game rather than feeling like a grind, we will level another couple once we are done, we both just over 30 now with about 35 hours played, not quick, but we are enjoying it immensely.

Oh don't worry as soon as you reach level 60 the grind will begin ;)

I actually enjoy the Outlands leveling. For me the recruit a friend system has taken the most annoying part out of the game.

Heh, though his toys out the pram eh? I'm sure he'll be back :)

I'm guessing this is all part of blizz's plans to get more people buying the new expansion pack though. The more high level players about, the more people who will want to buy it.

If my mate (lvl 70) recruits me - will I get triple XP for quest rewards and boosts or is it just standard because of the lvl difference?

Sorry if I'm going over old ground but I'm confused with this haha! :)

if your mate recruits you, your accounts will be linked. however you will only get triple XP if both of your characters are within 4 levels of each other.

so unless you have two linked characters yourself and he boosts you, he will have to make another character in order for you to get the triple xp.

what i would do is buy the game from a purple game outlet for £8 or £9.99 for wow and the recruit yourself . when you upgrade your second account youll get a month free anyway so at the end you'll have two high level accounts and you can sell one and keep the other.

Ive just recruited a friend (myself) with this offer and have just started.

im getting less xp when grouped than when solo, i,e grouped im getting 33xp and solo 44xp ??

Isnt this supposed to be triple xp? I was expecting 1.5 x 44 = 66xp per kill.

I had something similar happen when i was trying the refer a friend out (recruiting myself on a trial account) not sure what i did wrong. I think i used the normal account page to sign up instead of the link in the email, i managed to send out another email and get it to work so it was definately something i did.

On your account page, under the refer a friend tab it should show which accounts are linked to yours and active. Maybe send an email/open a ticket in game and see if there is anything they can do.

You get a little less on kills but still get the triple on quest hand ins.

It's half XP group penalty (for 2 players) and then it gets tripled.

edit:-

the easy way to tell if its working is just look in your combat log if it works it will read as

you recieve 44xp + (22xp refer a friend bonus) or something similar

After a bit of experimenting I'm doing this and it's deffo the fastest way to do it:

I have my main account, leave it. Buy a new version of wow (£8). Have the new account recommend a friend so you now have 2 new accounts (another £8 when that one hits lvl 20). Start a new char on both so you'll actually be lvling 2 at the same time, which when grouped will get the triple bonus (you only get this bonus if the 2 chars are within 4 (or close) lvls of each other.

Then use your main to do nothing but run them through instances. I use my warrior to run a good amount through and then all the way back to the entrance where the alts are waiting, and kill it all. Your exp log will look something like this:

Mob killed (20xp)
Group bonus (4xp)
Rec a friend bonus (80xp).

Seriously fast. I'm up to lvl 30 on each with 7 hours played. Yeah it cost £16 for the two new copies of wow but that's the best investment I've made of all time when you consider how many real time hours you'll save. And when my warrior gets shockwave and unlimited target thunderclap in the patch I'll beable to clear a whole instance in 1 pull which'll be nice.

Thanks, looking in the combat log shows its working fine for kills.

Cashing in quests doesnt seem to be quite right though, for example i just cashed a quest in and got 4800XP + bonus 2400xp for refer a friend. thats not triple thats 1.5x

Ive spent 7 hours on 2 characters multiboxing, im only level 17 .. doh! Dont think ill make 70 by WoLK. I am just getting used to it though, one alt sometimes doesnt want to join in mid battle.

it dosent show you the correct amount in the logs, flashes up on screen at the time though.

it does show the correct amount in logs. 4800xp is the total you've got, its simply letting you know that it includes an extra 2400xp.

Though the example is wrong, what it would say is 3600xp (+2400xp Refer a friend bonus) meaning the original quest is worth 1200xp , this at triple XP becomes 3600xp , its letting you know what the bonus is basically. Quests aren't worth 3600xp at a low level ;)

hit 50 last night after a couple days played trip boxing a few accounts. only planning to play for a month(if that) just want to see the majority of the game and with 3 characters theres few instances you can't do a few levels above needed and nothing non instanced I can't do so far.

with multiboxing you REALLY need to get the macro's done right to have them all do the right thing when you want but its freaking awesome. I'm actually, more than anything, enjoying the challenge of getting that working as efficiently and well as possible. Making alternative spell sequences so you get all the debuffs possible on a mob aswell as high damage. Speccing alts ever so slightly differently in talents so the debuff's assigned to it are working as well as possible. Your "leader" will take most of the aggro due to the damage delay so more survivability talents and more dps talents on alts.

check out a few sites for help with the macro's. So far the focus setup works best for me, IE when you make agroup have your alts target your main and set it as focus, won't break till you log basically and gives you so many options.

both have invaluable info on the subject.

The only downside is I'm really missing out on a lot of quests, finding myself spending to long doing quests I didn't know were long chains and useless rewards, and finding myself not really knowing where to go next.

As a new player to most of the area's(only got to the mid 30's on one alt years ago) and not getting all the referal quests because I'm not doing all the quests, I don't know where is level appropriate at the moment. I imagine its much better playing alongside a friend whose played for a while and knows what quests to do, what not to do and where to go at what level. Still enjoying it loads though.

I have to say of the 2 days playtime i've put in maybe, a good 4-6 hours was spending ages setting up first macro's, and changing things later in the game as abilities and talents change.

Theres some good power levelling guides that you should check out, tells you where and what to do, but if you are enjoying it, that sort of defeats the purpose.

Just hit 60 with my linked account, took 3 and a half days to get to 60, was great fun playing all 60 levels with a mate though.
