WOW VS LOTRO

Ive played WOW and LOTRO, personally i only stuck with WOW for my mates, because they were playing it. But 1 month down the line im abit dissapointed, the graphics let my hardware down and the players on there arent very helpful, only now i wish i gave LOTRO abit more of a chance. First thoughts on LOTR was the graphics were stunning and it was a very user freindly RPG.

Im thinking of cancelling my WOW account and going over to LOTR !

Are you choosing one to play?

If so, I believe it comes down to personal preference. Having played both I believed WoW was the one for me. I was easily addicted and as soon as I started playing I felt part of the game and the community was amazing. On the otherhand, I played LOTRO only for about a month, and to be honest I felt I was getting nowhere, and the content for higher levels was low, It just didnt grab me as much , I even grinded all classes to about 15-20.

But if you are choosing one to play, keep in mind (From the server I play on) WoW has been out 2 and a half years, which in my experiance meant that leveling from 1-60 was very quite and mind numbing as there were not too many people doing this, or doing the instances etc.

Anywho, they both have Trials I believe, go try them out :)

Personally, I would play WoW

I already have and have played both games, im just making a thread for anyone else who may be stuck in choosing which one to play.

Mhm

Again, I believe people are better off playing it themselves

It's a difficult call as I liked the PVE in both but disliked both games PVP aspects. LOTRO's graphics are simply stunning if your computer can handle them.

Personally in the end I opted for neither and went back to playing the slightly aged looking Dark Age of Camelot on the US Classic server instead :p

I prefer Lord Of The Rings Online. The lore and roleplaying has more depth, and to me that's more important than how exciting the combat is or grinding/raiding for XP and gear.

I gave LOTRO a fair chance (5 weeks) after playing WoW for 2 years and ,although it looks great, I just couldnt get into it :(
Just felt a bit slow and awkward and the lack of real PVP was enough to make me cancel my sub for good.

Same here.

After playing WoW parts of the game just didn't feel right. The unconfiguable user interface, the unorganised items in the Auction House, the lag and slowdown in highly populated areas are to name a few. I know WoW has it's problems with the "Noob" callers in the chat channels, but LOTRO seemed to have no community at all. No chat. Even the guild I was in hardly spoke to each other or helped each other out.

It's still a very new game, so no doubt I'll have another look in 12 months or so and see how it's improved, but I have a feeling that by then Warhammer will have more appeal than both WoW and LOTRO.

I've gone back to WoW and am happy with my choice.
