Quick question.

Never played the game, was a NWN's fan and that took enough time, and on top of that i waited until NWN2 to come out for my fix and then was left a tad dissapointed, and never got into it like i did the original, infact i've never even palyed an on-line game with it.

I'm guessing the games are pretty much similar in style, if so then the actual content would be worth it, but with so many millions having a huge march on me, is it even worth my time buying the game?

Also, what package should i get and do i have to pay a monthy fee?

Ta.

Monthly fee of about £8.99.

Don't worry about people having an edge just because it's been out ages, I thought the same thing until I realised how quite simple a game it is!

Just watch the whole addiction factor...

yeh its very friendly for new users
dosnt take too long to get used to how it plays
easy to learn, hard to master is the best way to put it

£9pm has just made my mind up unfortunately.

Even it was the best game in the world i simply couldn't bring myself to paying £100 a year for it with so many outgoings ATM.

Thanks for the heads up though. :(

In that year, how many PC games would you likely buy? WoW will take up so much of your time that you won't buy any other game at all. I've been there before. I don't play it anymore though, TBC caused me to lose interest as at the end of the day, you just realise that it's the same stuff over and over again, just with a different setting.

Well i played it for around 9 months, enjoyed it but in the end got pretty bored, ended up selling my char for £400 so I had my fun and came out with a nice lump sum of cash in the end, result!

My advice is don't join it, far too addictive for nothing, get a more worthwhile hobby.
It's only addictive if you let it be, people can play it in their spare time and not over do it like some people on the game, although i kind of agree with that statement of it being addictive.

But yeah, i'd say forget about it theres better things to do than play WOW.

Don't bother with it, you'll probably end up getting bored in a few months and wish you hadn't bothered. The gameplay is simplistic, and really you end up playing just hoping the next level is better, or saying to yourself "Oh when I hit 70, everything will be great!". But ofcourse it's just the same old, same old, I wish I'd spent all the time I spent on WoW on doing something more productive, or even playing a different game.

Nice profit!

Your sig's filesize is above the maximum allowed 20KB by the way. Sort it before the Dons smite you! :p

Fear the sig-searching Muse fan! :D

Dokko, if you're not sure about the game, try the 10 day trial. It's free, you can download the client which will take about an hour or two on a decent connection, and then just leave the account alone if you decide not to continue it.

I bet there's a hell of a lot of people who started out in that frame of mind but ended up being hardcore players though!

well I still enjoy it and I've been playing since release day on the main servers and for about eight months before it was released in the betas...

and I just accidentally spent about 14 hours straight on it ... whoops

I enjoy the game, but mostly because of the people I play it with, we're quite a large guild, but we were formed by a close-knit team of people from Dark Age of Camelot (myself included), we'll probably be trying out WAR when it comes out, we've applied to the beta as a guild too :D

Anyway, if it wasn't for my friends, i'd probably have got bored a long long time ago. That being said i've enjoyed my experience in TBC, I found the levelling 60-70 good fun, i've done all the level 70 5 man instances now and moving onto the heroics. Getting bored of some of them, but Karazhan is good fun just now too, we're just starting some Gruul runs too, which should be good! :D

That was me, thankfully last month i got to the point where i thought "whats the point" and i just quit suddenly after 2 years of hardcore addiction =)

I've recently started playing it because after xmas i really needed to save some money for the summer. £9 a month i nothing when i used to go and blow £100 a week on beer and taxi's etc.

I've lost my social life but im not too bothered because i know im going around the world at the end of the year. :)

Definitely worth a shot if you have nothing ebtter to do and you can save the money you would usually spend on something else thats just as pointless like beer.

Beer good! :(

(i'm a quality over quantity man though tbh!)

It depends what aspect of RPGs appeals to you.

If you're the type that simply enjoys levelling, getting new spells, powers and abilities, then a MMORPG like WoW will probably be very good for you.

If the levelling is not a massive aspect for you, but you enjoy exploration and epic story telling, then I think you're going to feel that something is lacking from the likes of WoW, which can really just be one big grind.

Guild wars is a little bit different but is a MMORPG and has NO MONTHLY FEE
You might prefer that.
It is also less about grinding for intense loot etc - you can dip in and out of GW more easily than with WoW
